I am now day 5 post op. Had my surgery on Monday, I'm not even sure the size I was because I couldn't wear anything but sports bras, however the 38 E was too small.

I am 23 years old, got boobs in 3rd grade, was a triple d by 6th. However back problems really only started the last few years. Anyways, I've been following this site, has really high hopes, and now I just don't know what to think. It seems like my recovery is going much more poorly than others.

Like I said, in post op day 6, I am still in tremendous pain, having to take the prescription meds and it still doesn't alleviate everything (I always thought I had a high tolerance, pain was not my concern with this surgery). I was puking all day yesterday, didn't get any post op antibiotics although I'm not running a fever and from what I can tell the incisions/drains look okay.

But it is really uncomfortable around the drain sites and when I stand up the bottom incision kills. I'm scheduled to get drains out on Monday. Still haven't even been able to shower. I ended up crying myself to sleep last night bc I have been so miserable with being in bed etc.

Any advice? In just so discouraged at this point and feel like I'm so behind on my recovery.

At this point you need to try and relax. Getting upset and feeling down will just make it hurt more. Try and think of all the positive aspects you will get once you are recovered. Can you call your doctors office? Some doctors have a call center where you can speak with a nurse about your problems with pain etc. I don't recall having that much pain post-op but we all heal differently. It's really important to take your meds on time and properly so they will work for you. I am so sorry you are having so many issues. Watch some of your favorite movies (if you are feeling up to it) do things that will distract you. I remember I slept a lot.......which is important too. I just had my 6 month follow up and am still very swollen. I've read people's posts discussing so many different experiences.....just try and hang in there. You will get better and start seeing your new body in a better light. I hope some others post a reply for you too.....it's very helpful to know you are not alone on your road to recovery. Best wishes to you!

Thank you for the kind post. My day has actually brightened up! I've been moving around a little more, pain has been manageable, trying to keep a better attitude! Hopefully come Monday I'll feel a little better too

I'm happy you are feeling a little better today. Just keep reminding yourself that recovery is a process.....some slower than others. Your body is also probably wondering what the heck just happened.......so get lots of rest. Let me know if you have any questions...... I'm happy to share my experience with you if you need any sort of reference. Take care!

You're probably on vicodin. I think lortab is a stronger dose of the painkiller which is hydrocodone. Ask your doctor for that. Oxycodone is even a stronger medicine for pain. There are medicines to help you get over the recovery stage. You just need to make it clear to your doctor that you're in an unacceptable amount of pain. There are even pills to help you sleep. A doctor gave me an ambient when I had false labor. I was all nervous when I went home, but the small dose of ambient gave me a restful night sleep. My son was born 2 days later. Insist on the medication that will help you during recovery. When the recovery is over, get off the meds quickly. They do great for surgery pain, but they are addictive.

Aww, hang in there! I'm 2 months post-op and I remember where you were.....in SO much pain, no energy, and really depressed. Your body just went through a huge shock! I, too, read some posts where people were off pain meds 4 days post op and thought I was doing something wrong. But I wasn't, and neither were you. My surgeon and his team were amazing, I was on Oxycodone and Oxycontin for 6 days, then Hydrocodone for a week, and Tramadol for about 4 days after that. I've had to take some ibuprofen here and there, but the pain is essentially gone now. I had nausea and vomiting too, the first week...it was miserable. But it got so much better, and it will for you too!! Just remember that your body is trying to get back to it's natural state, after lots of anesthesia and trauma. I LOVE my results, I just went shopping for my first "real" bra...no regrets! You'll be where I am before you know it, take care :)

I'm sorry you had such a rough time too, but it is encouraging to hear, gives me hope that I won't feel like this forever! Where was your pain? Every time I get up it is all on the bottom, I feel like I have to hold my boobs on when I walk anywhere! Was yours anything similar?

Yes! The sutures underneath and on the right side in particular were so painful for the first 2 weeks. I also had some nerve pain in my "new" nipple area and pretty much was miserable. Then you add the natural depression that sometimes follows after anesthesia and there were a rough few days, but they really didn't last long....I kept getting better and better and before I knew it, I was back to normal. I had my surgery October 15th and still have some pain and discomfort, and a little numbness.....but I know that the healing process can take many months and I feel pretty darn good now, and you will too! I think I said one time that I wish I wouldn't have done it, and it was around day 6 or 7. Now I can't believe I even thought that! Just know that what's happening now is pretty much the worst of it, and it will be passing soon. Get lots of rest, and remember not to gauge the success of your recovery based on other people's accounts of theirs:) Hang in there, and take good care of you!

Hang in there GF. I completely understand your frustration. I took 2 weeks off work thinking I would be completely ready to return by then. Not so much. Called my boss yesterday to extend. I had a tummy tuck and lift on 5/28 and I just had one of my two drains pulled out yesterday. Last week I was so upset that I couldn't have them both pulled. Yesterday I was thankful to have one pulled. My other will come out Friday but it is a heck of a lot easier with one then 2! The Dr won't pull them to early otherwise all that fluid will swell up another area. Don't be discouraged if you are not able to have them pulled in other words. I had no idea the healing time would take so damn long and I to am so over the recovery period but we has invested in ourselves and so good things will come. Showers aren't easy. I would definitwly have someone nearby to assist you whom you are comfortable with. The biggest issue is not being able to stand up straight so the water hits your face! The things we do to ourselves. I had a few nights of tears.... But I am here to tell you it gets better. Hugs****

I am experiencing the same as you almost. The pain at the drain sites is almost unbearable for me when I get up. But thank god I get them out tomorrow on Monday so hopefully that will help you some with the pain once they come out. The tape that is holding the drains in place is probably the other cause for the drain site to hurt. Just hang in there and keep taking your pain meds! Glad to know that someone else is experiencing the same pain as me. Lets cross our fingers and hope that the pain will decrease after the annoying things come out!! Good luck and I hope ur pain decreases after they are removed.

I reccomend contacting your PS and gettting some antibiotics and antinausea meds. Also, make sure you are eating a lot of fiber or taking stool softeners/laxatives because the pain pills will cause constipation. try to rest up and heal!
