3 year update
It has been almost 3 years since I have had my surgery and I am still very happy with my decision; definitely the best one I have ever made! I have seen other profiles of people who are nervous about telling others that they are considering a nose job, but don't be! I was actually excited and eager to tell people because I knew it was a great decision for ME. Even to this day, I don't hide the fact that I got surgery, i'm actually proud of it! If your nervous about telling people, don't be; standby your decision and go for it!
I had wanted a nose job since the young age of 12,...
I had wanted a nose job since the young age of 12, and thats not an exaggeration. So this was something I have thought about for a long time. I finally decided to take the leap at the age of 25 and I was set on this decision. I always felt my nose didn't fit my face and that I could do so much better. I am very careful in my decision making, so of course something this permanent and invasive had to be conducted by only the best.
Before the Surgery: I consulted three doctors, and the first two were just ehhh... I didn't feel very confident about either of them. My last consultation was with Dr. Ciardullo, upon speaking with him I was hooked and knew I wanted him to perform my surgery. Right away I could tell he knew what he was talking about; he very briefly talked about some of the things he would like to change about my nose before I was able to tell him what bothered me about my nose, and he was on point. After meeting with him and reading numerous positive reviews I booked my surgery for February 14th, 2013.
Surgery: Although getting a surgery should be extremely nerve racking I was not that nervous and felt very excited and confident in Dr. Ciardullo and his staff. Not only is Dr. Ciardullo an amazing doctor, but his staff is just as wonderful! Bobbi is so caring and will help you with all the business aspects of the surgery, the nurses are so comforting, as well as the anesthesiologist who will make you laugh right on the operating table. You can tell they do surgeries often because its like second nature to them. I had a dorsal hump on the bridge of my nose removed and the tip raised just a little bit and it made a huge difference. After I woke up I really was in no pain at all! No joke! (getting my wisdom teeth out was more painful). I was happy and relieved that I actually went through with something I wanted so much.
Recovery: What a breeze! After the surgery I napped for about 3 hours, woke up and felt great! I really had no pain... I didn't even have to take my pain meds. My recovery was basically just hanging out and relaxing for a week at home since I had a cast on my face, not because of any pain. A week later the cast comes off which is uncomfortable, but not painful. There will be a lot of swelling, that is normal. It takes a long time for your nose to heal completely but after a few weeks the swelling will subside incredibly. I was excited about my new nose even with the swelling, but you will see a major difference gradually over the course of the year.
If you are thinking about getting a rhinoplasty and have been for some time, my advice is DO IT! If its something you really want you will not regret it. It literally is life changing. If you are looking for a skilled and professional doctor, Dr. Ciardullo is the right choice!
