I had my procedure done in early April. Now, I am...

I had my procedure done in early April. Now, I am about 6 weeks post op, and my nose looks great. Once I had a consultation with Dr. C, I knew he was the one I wanted to do my surgery. He made the whole consultation very casual, which put me at ease. Right after I booked my surgery, which ended up having to be a month later. In the meanwhile, I stopped taking my birth control and made an appointment to get blood work. The blood work was simple and my insurance covered it, so that was one less expense. I also started taking vitamin c and bromelain. I couldn't take arnica, because all the ones I found had dairy in them and I am vegan. So, the day before surgery I was quite calm, because it seemed so surreal. The day of surgery I was told to call at 11 to see what time to come, because I was the third surgery of the day. I got a call at 10:50 that asked me to be there by 12. I rushed to get ready because I am about an hour away. My boyfriend stayed there the whole time and got my prescriptions filled. They took me in at about 12:15, and I started signing papers, took photos because I was doing pre-op that day too, and got in my gown. I was going to have my bump removed, nose shortened, and tip slightly up. At about 12:40 I was entering in to the surgical room. I was lying there for about five minutes and the anesthesiologist was joking around with me, and then he said that he needed to test out how much anesthesia he needed to distribute to me and about a minute later I was out. When I woke up I kept trying to remove the cooling mask from my face but they kept yelling at me. Then the doctor got my boyfriend and told him that we might not be dating anymore. Then after about half an hour of recovery I was off. It was about 2:15 and one of the nurses walked me down to where my boyfriend pulled the car around the corner.

Recovery wasn't so bad. The anesthesia never made me sick. I made sure to say that I was under anesthesia before and got terribly nauseous. They gave me Dramamine and it definitely worked. I did feel very weak the first two or so days, and standing up for a long time made me dizzy. Day three though, I was up and about the house. I got very minimal to no bruising the whole time. My one eyelid just got very red and puffy. My skin was super oily and I was using toner and wipes. By day 7 I was so ready to get the cast off. I was so uncontrollably nervous that day. No other day was I nervous, except for this one. I was trying to relax but I couldn't. I also had to drive myself up there, which didn't help because I was literally shaking. I got there super early and saw a girl leaving with a cast on her nose. I had to wait a bit, but got seen at the time of my appointment. He took off my cast, which really really hurt. But, I felt so relieved after it was off. It looked so strange when he showed me my new nose. When I looked down before, I could see my nose, but when I look down now I can barely see it at all. I thought it was super weird, but everyone seemed to like it. As the day went on, it grew on me. I really started to like it. I had only told a few people, but no one else noticed, which was nice. My nose looks so subtly nicer. I feel more confident about myself and can wear less makeup and not feel like people are only looking at my nose.

My nose did swell, but it never got too bad. It was swelling a lot on one side, so it looked very crooked, but it started to even out day by day. Six weeks later, it looks completely fine. The tip is still very much swollen and I can feel scar tissue inside my nose. And my nose has been breathable since the cast removal.

I visited Dr. C recently, and he said that my nose is healing amazingly. He took a look at it and took some preliminary pictures, though he said in the fall he will be taking another set of pictures to compare progress and swelling. At that point, I will be at about six months.

I will email pictures upon request.
