I always struggled with gynecomastia but was always afraid to address the issue. I researched online for well over a year and Dr. Blau kept popping up as one of the best doctors for the procedure. I finally decided that I would just make a simple phone call. When I called the office, Mary Ann answered the phone and she was very sweet. She told me a consultation would be $250 but if I decided to go through with the surgery the $250 would be applied to the total cost of the surgery. So I decided to schedule a consultation for a couple of weeks later and went in.
When I arrived at the office, everyone was very sweet. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all given this was something I've been uncomfortable with my whole life. When I finally met Dr. Blau he felt like a genuine person. He didn't seem pushy and it didn't feel like I was talking to a salesman. He was very nice, addressed all my questions, and didn't rush me. He told me that since my gynecomastia case was bigger than usual, it would cost a little extra. I didn't care much about the cost since I knew I had always wanted this surgery.
So I scheduled a morning surgery for a couple of weeks later. When I walked in surgery day I met the anesthesiologist and he was also very nice and made me feel comfortable. I saw Dr. Blau and he made some markings on me for the surgery and then I went into the operating room which is in the office. Before I knew it the surgery was over and I was in the recovery room with my friend next to me. They brought me all the pretzels and apple juice I needed until the anesthesia wore off and I felt good enough to go home.
I had a post-op checkup with Dr. Blau a few days later where he took the bandages off. I was bruised but he promised me it would go away and it would begin to look good soon. I continued to go back for checkups every couple of weeks so Dr. Blau could make sure I healed properly and the staff was always welcoming.
Overall doing the surgery changed my life and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering it. It's been 5 months since the surgery and I only have a little scar on one side that is barely noticeable. I feel much more confident and comfortable in my body. Dr. Blau really is a blessing. Thank you so much.
