I have just read the comments regarding this patient’s experience with Dr. Blau. I feel compelled to reply.
Dr. Mordcai Blau performed nose surgery (rhinoplasty) on me in 2003. My nose had a hook and in my opinion was “wide.” A friend recommended Dr. Blau and I set up an appointment for a consultation.
I was very impressed with the many before and after nose photos on his website. In fact, his site had more photos than others. I even spoke to several of his patients who had this surgery and they were all very pleased and happy with their “new” nose and Dr. Blau.
During my first visit with Dr. Blau, he spent over an hour with me and answered all of my questions. Never having had cosmetic surgery of any kind before, I was nervous and not really sure how I would look after. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to have the surgery at all. Dr. Blau was so reassuring, caring, professional and honest with me. He made no false promises. He told me I would not look like a Barbie Doll, but a natural, better me. At no time did he encourage me to proceed. He went over all of the risks and benefits with me in a very patient and not condescending manner. He also told me in the plastic surgery literature, it is not uncommon for some patients to undergo revision surgery for one reason or another. He provided the names of former patients for me to call and speak directly to them. I did call three. Each one couldn’t rave enough about Dr. Blau and their new noses. That was enough for me. I scheduled the surgery and was given a packet with all of the information I would need to know. Dr. Blau’s staff couldn’t be more accommodating, patient, understanding and available to me in the weeks before my surgery.
On the day of surgery, I was very nervous, in spite of all the information I was armed with. But I knew this was something I wanted to do and I knew I was with one of the best plastic surgeons.
I was taken to the operating suite where Dr. Blau was waiting for me. We chatted for a few minutes and I must say, this chat calmed me down. His patience and warmth made me feel so comfortable. He drew on my nose, took my hand and reassured me that everything would be all right. He was so right!
I was helped onto the operating table and began another chat with Dr. Blau and the anesthesiologist. We laughed and the next thing I knew, I was awake with a bandage on my nose. There was absolutely no pain or discomfort afterwards, though several friends who had the surgery, told me I may experience some discomfort. I did not! However, Dr. Blau assured me that if I needed to speak with him or required pain medication, both would be provided.
One week later, when Dr. Blau took the bandages off, I could see immediate results. Wow. I felt like a new person! I started to cry. I got exactly what I wanted. Dr. Blau did tell me that I might have swelling for a one year period, however his work was so good, I didn’t see any swelling or felt any pain.
Because of my wonderful experience with Dr. Blau, I recommended my cousin see him for nose surgery. She was so excited about my nose, she decided to have hers done as well, and also was thrilled with her new nose. Between the two of us, we have recommended many friends and relatives who also have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Blau. Two family members had nose surgery a few years ago by another plastic surgeon and were very unhappy; one of them had it done twice by another surgeon. I suggested she contact Dr. Blau to see if there was anything he could do. He met with and examined her, and made several suggestions. She took her time thinking about it and several months later, made an appointment for a third nose surgery. This time was the charm!
I am 56 years old and have since had several other surgeries done by Dr. Blau; upper and lower eyes, neck surgery, liposuction, and face lift. No one believes I’ve had any of this done. It’s so natural looking. When I shop for cosmetics in the departments stores, the cosmetic reps cannot and do not believe my age.
In spite of a great weight loss, my neck is still as taught and wrinkle/line free as it was after the surgery, and my nose looks even better on my face.
In my opinion, Dr. Blau is a wonderful surgeon and true artist. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. In my research of Dr. Blau, I learned that many other physicians have had plastic surgery done by him. That really says a lot about his skill and expertise.
