Revision Rhinoplastry with Basim Matti, So Far So Good! - Weymouth, GB

I had a rhinoplasty with Harley medical group when I was 18 (10 years ago) my nose was badly broken and I got teased a lot for it back in the days! I had my op With Phillip graham (I think thats his name) at first I was delighted, I thought it was the perfect nose. But after a few months imperfections started to show and I realised I was left with a very girly/pointy nose.

I got a lot of comments , people asked If I had surgery, peopled said it looked like Michael jackson's nose! Other people said it was perfect, or some even said cute. Which is not what you want to hear as a man. I pushed all the comments to the back of my mind as I felt a lot better after the surgery and begin to enjoy myself again, although I was not completely happy with it. About 2 years ago after a friend of mine had a rhinoplasty with Basim Matti I thought her result was great and started to think about getting mine done again.

I had my consultation with Basim Matti in April 2014 and I enjoyed my consultation. He took around half an hour with me (Consultation was £250) explaining what he wanted to do with my nose. We agreed it was too harsh and pointy looking and my left nostril was dented and I could never breathe though it. I only just had my surgery on June 22nd (2015) as I had to move the date a few times to due to other commitments.

I also had a consultation with Lucion Ion a few months ago, It was not a very good consultation (cost £150) Lucion Ion and Matti were the only 2 surgeons I saw, I wanted to see Ian Mckay too but I heard he retired! All 3 of these surgeons seemed to have a good reputations online for revisions surgerys.

The consulation with Ion was not great, he kept me waiting for half an hour and was very polite for the first few minutes but he asked if I minded if he made a phonecall, I was happy to wait but 5 mintues later he received a phonecall and was not in a very good mood when he came back. He did some morphs for me, 1 looked good and one looked ridiculous lol. He looked annoyed when I asked if we could alter the tip. He seemed to go into great detail but almost unsure of what to do! towards the end of the consultation he was very slow to answer my questions and looked very uninterested . I felt he was looking down on me to be honest, I was dressed pretty sporty as I was heading to the gym afterwards. After the consultation he led me to his secretaries room and pointed to the chair and he left without saying goodbye. So yeah, surprisingly I did't choose him! I must of caught him on a bad day as his feedback usually seems good.

I had another consultation with Matti nearer my op and this one lasted about 8 minutes, but I felt like everything had been covered and I was happy. I heard some people complain Matti rushed consultations but I did not feel mine were I was very happy with my first consultation.

SOOO he said he was going to take the harsh "pinocchio" nose down and make it more rounded like a mans nose usually is, to also use a spreader graft to fill out the left side which was caved in. he also said my septum was deviated which was causing the left nostril to be blocked.

Surgery went well, on the surgery day I was pretty nervous as it had been on my mind for 10 bloomin years. Matti saw me just before my anaesthetic and assured me not to be nervous and went over 1 more time what we were going to do. He was with me when I went under too which was a nice touch, all the staff were lovely and I felt nice and relaxed. Matti saw me around 1 hour after my op and said he was very happy with my nose, it looks very natural.

I felt ok in my recovery, no real pain just uncomfortable at times, I usually go to the gym every other day so sitting around feeling house bound was the hardest part.

When the cast came off I was delighted! it looked very straight and symetical and a felt hugeee relief! Matti and his nurse were very comforting and Matti said it looks great and nobody would ever know I had anything done. It seemed legitimate and I agreed 80)

After a few hours it swelled up even more, I was told this would happen as the cast keeps pressure on it so when it comes off it blows up a little lol. Matti did warn me it would feel strange adjusting to this nose as I had given a very feminine nose and I would be going to a more rounded nose with less definition. I still feel this now 10 days later, I'm happy with it but every now and then I look in the mirror and it feels very odd!

So far a few people have noticed and some haven't, I feel I look very different but some say I look exactly the same lol. I know I have a lot of healing to do but so far I am very happy with it. I still am pretty swollen up and the left side feels pretty tender still and much more swollen as more work was done on that side so I'm trying to stay calm and just relax.

So, nearly 2 weeks so far and very happy! I don't have great photos of before I'm afraid I hated looking at it!
