WORTH IT
Hello Everyone,
I came here to share my experience and hope to find some support. I recently had a tattoo done after my grandma passed away. The tattoo is of a dove holding rosary beads. I have never had a tattoo before and I am not sure what came over me but I thought it would help me 'remember" or honor her. After the tattoo I just felt really sad. This horrible sadness. The tattoo doesn't fit in my personality and just feels like a band aid that I want to rip off. It has caused a lot of anxiety, sleepless nights, loss of appetite and a hole mess of other problems all because of a tattoo. I am surprised at the reaction I have had, I wasn't expecting it at all. That being said, I looked into PICOSURE tattoo removal and started 1 treatment today. The treatment was indeed uncomfortable but I did not use any pain numbing cream which I will use next time. The treatment was pretty fast two about 5 mins is all. I will post pictures after 4 weeks (I need to give the first one time to heal ) but I am just looking for advise on how I can stop obsessing about the tattoo and stop feeling so regretful and sad about it. Thank you

I know and I am just awestruck how its effected me emotionally and it has also negatively impacted people closest to me and my relationships. Having 1 picosure treatment helped but i want it to go faster and i want to snap out of this angry/depressive state.

I have anxiety issues AND a tattoo issue and I found that it was messing with my work and making me feel physically ill. I read this somewhere, but if you schedule a "worry time" and try your best to put aside those tattoo thoughts until "worry time", then at least you can get through your day. I am currently trying this method, just so I can survive through work and through other events. I keep getting the thoughts that pop into my head but I just tell myself that now is not "worry time" and I will worry about it later. You can even set a day, like maybe Fridays, to have worry time. Just tell yourself, "No, sorry bad thoughts, I will think about you during worry time on Friday." It's somewhat working for me and maybe it will be helpful for you.

Thank you. That is a great idea and I will give it a try. I have been trying to keep busy which helps but now and again it just creeps up on me and I start feeling bad but being busy helps and I will do the "worry time' I like that idea. I am still having trouble sleeping and i am not sure if its the worry or that i just messed up my body clock from a few weeks ago when I was up worrying.

You sound almost exactly like me! At night if telling your brain that "it's not worry time" doesn't work (because sometimes brains don't shut off listen...) try relaxing music or gentle rain/thunder sounds and then focus on that. I know it really sucks because worrying can make you physically ill... been happening to me a lot... If we can't stop the worrying, at least we can try to control it right? Instead of letting it control us. We don't deserve to suffer 24/7 if it doesn't do us any good anyway.

Picosure after Day 1

User Avatar

Okay here it goes. This is one day after my Picosure treatment. Throughout the day after it was done I had a sort of stinging feeling like a "sunburn" I was expecting when I took the bandage off this morning that there would be blistering but I actually have none. Just redness, a little sensitivity and some skin flaking.

6 day's after PICOSURE treatment

Hello All,
I wanted to provide an update approx 1 week (6 days) after my 1st PICOSURE treatment. I saw a difference right away (24 hours) after the 1st treatment and I do see some more fading 1 week in. I think its hard to tell but what I notice the most is the "shading" in the tattoo is almost gone, really all I have is an outline left. I am having my treatments done by a certified Dermatologist and he wanted me to start on the lowest level (3) I am hoping my next treatment which is scheduled in January will have a higher power to speed up the process. Let me know what you think!

I'm so happy to see someone else from CT going through this! I see that the cost was almost $400. That' just for 1 treatment? I am going through something similar as you - my grandfather just passed away and I got a tattoo on my upper forearm as a tribute to him, and I'm freaking out over it. I was going to look into going to this clinic for removal. Did they give you an estimate on how many treatments you will need?

Hello Red, I am glad I am not alone in CT and I am really sorry you are going through this. I know what you are going through. I would call Dr. Lawrence J. Fortier's office, ask for Yolanda that is the nurse who knows everything and will set up your appointment. They can not estimate until they see you because the price has to do with size, placement and colors. The age of my tattoo was really new so he didn't give me an estimate but he did the lowest level to see how I would react. He said he doesn't like to give estimates to soon because you really never know. My guess is it will be anywhere from 3-5. They are so kind there and the office is really clean, almost no wait time, when I went. I go back in January. There is another guy who does laser tattoo removal but I read that he is more expensive. His office is in Guilford, Dr. Langdon he was on the news about his treatments. I just went to his website now and saw he is giving a 15% off discount for December...I dont know much about him but had a good experience where I went. So i'd check them out. Tell Yolanda you heard about them from Theresa she might remember me.

Thank you so much for the reply! I'll be making an appointment sometime in the new year. Good luck with your removal and I'm excited to see the progress!
