I had my eyebrows and upper eyeliner done. I have been told by therapists I have a high tolerance to pain. I have gotten fillers Botox and lasers on my face and décolletage every year for 10 years.
My tattoo Aesthetician had 30 years’ experience. I did my homework and rang around before settling on her. They were the most professional. I went for the $50 consultation. There was no talk of intense pain just that it would be bearable and they use numbing cream.
IT WAS HORRIFFICALLY PAINFUL. My Aesthetician didn’t explain step by step what was going on. There is a first pass where numbing cream isn’t used. She covered my eyes then left the room for about 5 minutes. I could feel blood trickling down my face so I wiped it myself. Stunned by the pain I told her I wouldn’t get my lower eyeliner done.
The numbing cream she applied to my eyebrows helped and the nerve endings weren’t so vividly painul but the cream wore off by the time she did the second brow! Then onto my eyelids. OMG. I know I should have said something, “please reapply” but with her experience and the mocking I didn’t and couldn’t as I had gone into shock. Why should I tell her to reapply when he could see my discomfort? She went wrong by applying the cream AT THE SAME TIME FOR BOTH AREAS.
The lady before me apparently got the same procedure and she walked out chatting and was fine. People react differently.
I would suggest to you, especially if you are getting your eyelids done, to request reapplication during the procedure. Also, buy your own numbing cream and put it on before and during yourself if they are too stingy or careless to use their own.
Upon research when I came home and in my preliminary research some Aestheticians do reapply and apply at different times. They apply the numbing cream whilst working on the eyebrows. I am going to bring this up with her but as I have a follow up appointment I don’t want to get her offside then use needles near my eyeballs. Take a relaxant even an Endone (Vicodin) if you can and being driven home. The more relaxed you are the less squirming you’ll do.
The result is not final as I have to wait another month before my topup. My eyebrows are too dark but I have bee assured they will fade and my eyelids do need to be redone as one is flaking a little but I do like having them done.
