I've struggled over the years with acne and acne scars. Because I have a darker skin-type, the treatments that are available have higher risk. Then I heard about the PicoSure laser for acne scars. It is safe for darker skin like mine, with no wounds or downtime, so I decided to research it. I had a consult with a Derm in Manhattan first, then I found Kerin MedSpa & Laser Center. It has the only PicoSure in Westchester offering the treatment. I checked them out & had a great consult. I did the treatment on Oct 11th & can't believe how great the results are.

Wow, your results are really great, especially only after one treatment! Would you agree that there was no down time?

Zero downtime. I put a little tinted SPF that the spa offers & went about the rest of my day. So excited !!

How long does it take for the redness to fully fade away? And also what about the Peeling on the skin? Is there a lot of heavy peeling involve a few days after this procedure?

What I meant to say is the redness of the swelling after just getting this done. How many days does the redness fade away? Thank you for your time.

Hi. Redness faded within 30-60 mins after treatment. There wasn't any swelling, so a dab of tinted SPF did the trick to go about my day. I didn't even have to avoid the sun- really, no down time. I didn't experience any skin peeling at all with the picosure acne treatment. I started seeing results within 3-5 days and it just kept getting better. Dr. Kerin answered all my questions and explained what to anticipate. Overall, I give two thumbs up for the result and experience! Thanks for inquiring- hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. & yes this definitely helps many of us looking into this. One last question, What did the Doctor explained in what to anticipate in the up coming weeks? And how aggressive did they go on you? Did he use a strong setting on your skin or did he have to use a lower setting do to having darker skin? Is that why the Redness didn't last too long afterwards? I have dark skin myself and live out in Southern California where it's always sunny/ never Rains. Thanks again for sharing your journey with us.

Dr. Kerin told me he would start very conservatively with my first treatment to see how my skin would respond, but I don't know what the settings were. My skin already feels tighter and the scars are already lighter. In the next few weeks I should see the scars fade even more. I bought the tinted SPF - it's great, and I put it on every day. I really think it's worth the money, especially if you are in the sun a lot. Pico worked great for me - can't wait for my next treatment. Good luck!

Hi, did you only have one treatment to see such results? I am told I would need at least 6 or 7 treatments. I will probably have 8 sessions to be on the safe side.

Not atrophic scarring
November 14, 2017
I am not sure on this. From the first photo, it actually looks like there could be slight atrophic scarring with pigmentation. I actually have marks that at first look, might appear to be hyperpigmentation, but are atrophic marks. I'd be interested to hear what you think.
