Approaching 50 and I was looking a little tired...

WORTH IT
Approaching 50 and I was looking a little tired with laughter lines starting to creep. I hadn't used botox or any fillers before and was apprehensive as I had seen friends over do things and end up looking a unnatural. I thought I was maybe a candidate for a face lift. I searched for a surgeon who had excellent reviews and was achieving natural results and found Dr Watts. Dr Watts took a lot of time to study my face moving naturally and advised that he didn’t feel a facelift would provide a sufficient enough change to justify undergoing the procedure at this stage (recovery, cost, slight scarring etc). He recommended some specific areas for botox and a liquid facelift. He felt that with some ongoing maintenance this would provide a much better outcome. Well I underwent the liquid facelift with botox and I have to say I’m very happy. The outcome is beyond my expectations. Dr Watts took a lot of time and basically sculptured my face enhancing bone structure and plumping up tissue to refresh and lift my skin. The effect is very natural and beyond skin tightening my cheek bones have been enhanced, my lips and jaw line improved. It is extremely effective and the downtime afterwards was minimal (a couple of days). The treatment itself I didn’t find particularly uncomfortable or overly painful (I didn’t require any pain relief beyond ice for the face).

That's great, thank you for sharing your experience! Do you have any pics you can share too? Love to see your results!

What fillers did you decide to go with?

Sorry for the delay.. I've only just realised there was a comment here. Two types of filler were used one softer and the other firmer over the cheek bones and on the jaw line.

How much did this treatment cost and what is involved with a liquid facelift?

It was about $3,000 with botox. It basically involves using fillers to plump up and fill out slightly sagging skin while using botox to soften lines. The cheeks regain their fullness for instance and that helps give a more youthful appearance. You just look fresher. I chose to have a small amount of botox and keep some soft lines so its a natural look not stretched or immobile at all... subtle but effective.

Thanks so much for such a prompt reply. My concern with Botox and fillers is the cost and upkeep. How have you found this since having your treatment?

I haven't needed to top up or add anything at this stage as its only 3 months on. My understanding is that topping up will be necessary and the firmer fillers are likely to last longer than the softer type. How long they last I have yet to find out. Apparently it varies from person to person and depends on what fillers are used. In an area of high mobility they are likely to break down faster than say over the cheek bones. I'll keep you posted!
