Debating Between Kybella or Chin/Neck Lipo? Choose Chin/Neck, Here is Why - West Orange, NJ

I had my first procedure with Dr. Joesph and his staff back in 2014 when I received my Rhinoplasty (see previous review).
I loved my new nose, and wanted a sculpted jaw line to go with it. My neck and under my jaw always had a little more skin, this was genetic, no matter how much water or weight I lost, the painful truth was it seen time and time again by my parent, cousins, grandparents, you get the picture. When visiting Dr. Joesph for a tiny bit of Botox on my forehead, I asked him about Kybella and if he was going to offer it. Dr. Joesph sat down, and took the time to explain to me why he did not agree with Kybella. Of course he had been approached by Kybella to sell the product, but when he did his research on the cases (important that your dr. does this!!!) he noticed that the patients firstly almost all had a bullfrog like reaction when getting injected for about 24-48 hours, Kybella almost all of the time required multiple sessions, EACH session costing the same as 1 neck (or chin as the industry calls it) lipo. The other disturbing point that he noticed about Kybella was it was not guaranteed to work on the patient. Due to these reasons, Dr. Joesph felt that offering Kybella at his practice would be doing a disservice to his clients. By offering a product that was nearly a milking the client, and not offering the best way to the clients end goal. Thats when he offered the neck liposuction procedures. For the cost of 1 Kybella procedure that Plastic Surgeons offered in the area, neck lipo would guarantee removal of the fat cells under the neck because you literally suck them away, poof gone. The procedure was extremely quick, not even 2 hours, and I didn't even get knocked out all the way and just like Kybella, you could go to work the next day. He told me to go home and think about, look up Kybella and the reviews and stories if I had too. I did of course, and I was really surprised to see how many reviewers said they were unsure if it was worth it still 2 weeks out of their session, and some even said not at all! No way, not for me, I am not going to spend money on something that isn't guaranteed, so I called back the office and arranged for my operation. I never expected to love my results as much as I do!! My first realization of this was I had a party to go to 6 weeks after my operation, and without my knowledge someone was snapping photos and caught my side profile. I was so happy with the way I look, I sincerely feel like I got everything done on my face that makes me feel confident, and he is to thank for it.
My mom even wishes he was her doctor for her face lift (sadly he does not do them) because she loves how honest he is, and how obvious he CARES about you. I would recommend every single person to him. Dr. Joesph and his staff are so great, and personal, you don't feel like you're just on the deli line waiting to be serviced like my mothers doctor..

In the photos you see, all the way to the left is pre-rhino, middle is post-rhino, and the right photo is post-rhino and post-chin/neck lipo.

That's some pretty high praise! Which makes sense—you look great. :)

Thanks so much for this. I have a minor amount of fat around my chin and neck despite being extremely petite and it really really bothers me! You're title was perfect- because I am debating between the two procedures right now as we speak. I am getting my nose done in a couple weeks and don't really feel like getting/paying for another operation, but there does seem to be too much unknown with Kybella. Thanks again - I'm on Long Island so maybe I'll look into your doctor.

Looks great. I went for a chin implant consult to him few months ago and he said I don't need it. I hate my profile But I never went under and wish I can be awake. What size implant did you get.?

Hi! No implant, just lipo :)

Oh I misread it. Thought you got an implant. Looks like it. So the Lopo really worked great

yes, i actually also initially thought about an implant and asked him, and he said no, not necessary, that the neck lipo would bring out my jaw line and it did!

Yep my doctor told me about the bullfrog effect and crazy price.. however he does still have it as an option for patients who are strictly anti-surgery or not candidates. Great story! Thanks for sharing!
