I am scheduled for a Body lift tummy tuck and I have struggled with my weight so much! I have lost and gained through the years. I had gastric sleeve 2015 lost 89 lbs gained about 20 back. When I went to my surgeon she told me I won't be able to lose more weight until I have this removed. I am afraid do to I have all this skin and fat and I worry with my Bmi not low. Also my surgery is going to be 7 hrs. I feel my surgeon would not let me do this if she felt I needed to lose the weight first?

Good Luck in your upcoming surgery ...
I am 7 weeks post-op now from my LBL
Trust in your PS ... they are all different in their approaches when you start reading on this web-site ... don't let that confuse you.
Your PS knows what is best for you. If he/she is good to go - then you are too.

Hi thanks so much for letting me know that. Believe me I have done my homework. Found out some interesting things like who are real plastic surgeon and who are not. I trust my PS completely! But my Faith and trust is in God he is in control of everything! Do you mind me asking how long was your surgery? Because mine is scheduled 7hrs and that freaks me out! Will you please send me before and after pics? Any recommendations greatly appreciated! Thank you

Click on my user name and it will take you to my info page - then click on my journal. Got a lot of pixs posted.
My surgery was scheduled for 5 hours. It only last 4+. I think docs seem to add on a little time just in case - but then seem to never go the full amount allocated.
Critical - rent a recliner lift chair or buy one of craigs list. This is a must ! You will sit, eat, sleep in your Princess Throne for 5-6 weeks. Remember your stomach and upper outer leg muscles are tightened - you will not be able to use these muscles for 6 weeks.
I didn't get an elevated toilet seat. I just change our toilets out to a comfort height (which is 17" bowl height from ground) vs. standard toilets are 14.5". If you have the standard height toilets, you will need to get an elevated seat.
I'll write more on goodies to get. The above 2 items are the most important.

Thank you so much! You have done Awesome!! I pray I do that great! I was checking into a recliner but wasn't going to get the lift? Thought maybe a big one would work?

NO NO NO - you need the lift !!!!!
I didn't think I would need the lift either since I have other electric recliners. Boy, was I wrong. I so glad I got the lift. I couldn't have done it without. You don't want to do anything to those muscles - they need to heal.
My doc has one, immediately after a LBL, get up every 2 hours and walk 10 minutes 24/7. This is very important to not get blood clots and promotes healing. Then after the first or second week it is every 4 hours. Without the lift chair - OMG, don't want to even think of the pain.
Your doctor may have arrangements with rental lift chair companies. My doc here in FL does. I would start getting info from your doc's office.

Ok thank you for that I will check into that. Are you still in alot of pain? I am getting some wedge pillows if you think of anything I so appreciate it! Something that's bothering me is i noticed you had reached your goal and your skin is not hanging fat. My surgeon told me do not beat myself up with this hanging belly. I'm just worried i lose afterwards I will be right back where I started. My surgeon told me I needed it now ugh

I have had no pain what-so-ever after the first week. And the first week one gets the wonderful happy drugs. Just keep them coming - and don't forget to take them on schedule. Your body is numb around the incision sight.
numbness = no pain :)
It takes nerves to regrow from the spine: 1mm per 1 day.
Looks like we will be numb for many months - NBD

I am not sure what you are having done surgically.
Are you having a lower body lift (360 degrees) with muscle tightening?
The key words here are "muscle tightening"

I agree ... don't beat yourself up about the hanging belly. You have to ask yourself today - if you get ride of that frontal skin/fat, will it help you to lose more weight in the future and feel better about yourself? Will you need a touch up in the future? Maybe ... Only you can decided what is best for you today. It is major surgery.

Hi thank you that helps. She did say something about she is going to numb me good and have me up walking that night. Wow but I do understand. I do worry about the blood clots so scarry plus me not at goal weight. I know I have to quit saying that but everyone goes on about the Bmi ugh she calls it tummy tuck outer thigh buttock lift.

Tummy tuck outer thigh buttock lift sure sounds like a lower body lift to me. I would ask your doc if that includes front muscle tightening. If it does, you will definitely want the Princess Throne (recliner lift chair).

I got compression knee high socks to help with the circulation. I still wear them now. Got them on amazon. Only go to 15 max on compression or they will be too hard to get on. After surgery and for about a month + after, you will need help to get these socks on. I had (and still have) an issue with swelling. At least my ankles are not swollen :)

You may want to get yourself something to reach for "stuff". You won't be moving your torso for weeks to twist or bending over. If you drop something - there is will stay until someone else picks it up :)

Hi there! What is your name? My name is Lori. Problem is all the PS word it different. Yes it's a lower body lift but she told me she would not be doing a while lot of tightening do to the blood restriction. Or Lipo she says safety is our main concern and I agree. My wedge pillow came in its big! Lol That's a great idea with the stockings I will do that. I have one of those grabber things got it for hubby for Christmas.lol I really appreciate so much any advice you can give me. Like I told my hubby this is not something you take lightly and you need to be prepared. I love this sight although it can be addicting and scare you too! Did you feel guilty having the surgery? Like people don't understand and they make you feel guilty like why are you doing this? I guess it's normal?

My name is Deb.
I had the same issue with tightening do to the blood restriction because I have a gallbladder scar from 1989 that is quite long. The doc called my surgery a modified lower body lift. He couldn't take as much skin off my belly as he would have done if that scar wasn't there ... Safety First.
I bought a tall wedge for my legs that I use in my bed and recliner.
I didn't tell a lot of people cause it is personal to me. People, where I live now, don't know I use to weight 294 lbs.
There is no guilt having the surgery. At my age - 63, it was now or never for the surgery. I couldn't do it before cause I was a caregiver to my elderly parents for the past 10 years. And I didn't lose all my weight until 2011.
My next surgery for upper body lift is the end of January. No guilt - just a lot of money. I'm worth it !!

Hi! I’m 2 weeks post op from my LBL. Deb and I used the same PS (I met her in the waiting room the day of my pre op appt. ) and she is a great info source! I did feel guilty.... almost like I was “cheating”. Very few people know I had this done because of those feelings. The nurses at my primary care doc were the worst. Lol I still felt that way until about a week post op. Now that I can see what the end result is I don’t care! Its an amazing confidence builder to see your new shape! No regrets. Hang in there. And I agree, the lift chair is a game changer. Can’t imagine not having it and told my husband they should make it mandatory! Good luck!

Hi! Thank you for that information. Deb is very sweet and informative.
