Post op updates

Sorry i didn't get to post my recovery journey but with the little ones things have been super busy.

*Pre-op*
Honestly were do I begin? The night before surgery I ate my last meal around 9pm and had my last glass of 8oz water at midnight. Got to sleep at around 1am & woke up at 5am. We dropped our son off and headed to the surgical suite. Arrived around 6:35am and was told to be there by 7am. At this point I was so nervous I could even talk just felt like I had to use the bathroom. At 7 o clock we walked into the facility and automatically I felt at ease. From the moment I sat down to start my paperwork everyone was so friendly and helpful. We laughed and joked as I got undressed and my husband left when the anesthesiologist was going to start prepping me. Even he was so informative and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Harris greeted me & made his markings. We talked about the sizes one more time but agreed we would stick to a natural full look. Afterwards I was given Tylenol and my iv was placed. Around 8:00am they walked me into the operating room were I laid on the table with warm heating blankets. The nurse made sure I was okay and comfortable. They started some music and we talked for a few minutes and laughed. Adele came on and the anesthesiologist said " Okay Andrea you are going to feel like you had 6 cups of wine" so at this point I started feeling tired & replied "I feel it I'm going to close my eyes".

*Recovery area*
Next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery area. Just feeling lots of pressure on my chest and became nauseated as I woke up more. I was given a medication through my iv to help with the sickness which made me take a nap for about an hour. When I woke up I was ok to get myself up and dressed. I did not feel pain again just lots of pressure. By this time my husband came in to get me and signed my paperwork for release. They took me out in a wheelchair and we were on our way home by 11:30am.

*On our way home*
The car ride home was uncomfortable and the pain started kicking in with all the bumps in the road. The car ride was about an hour and we stopped to get some breakfast. Even tho I was hungry I couldn't eat much just drank some water.

*Finally home*
When we got home I took my pain killers and say in my rocking chair/recovery area and took a little nap. When I woke up I ate a little and sat back down to relax. After I took my next dose of pain killers 4 hours later. I was able to walk around and do things for myself. I didn't feel much at all but a bit pressure. As the day went on hubby and I watched Netflix and ate dinner together. Sleeping had to be the most difficult night 1-4. I am a side and stomach sleeper so sleeping in a chair at an angle was horrible. I would only sleep about 2-3 hours a night.

*Day 2*
The second day I woke up with some pain more soreness. I felt like I got beat up all over my neck and back. Still took my pain killers around the clock. Started feeling bloated from not passing a stool. Still able to walk around but minimal arm activities. It was most hardest when my son wanted me to pick him up or cuddle with me. Eating was back to normal, mostly soup and fruit. Still couldn't use the bathroom.

*Day 3*
Running on little sleep I finally started to feel the pain a bit more. I was still taking pain meds around the clock. Tried sleeping in the bed but it was very difficult. Also My husband had to help me get up from chair and couch.

*Day 4*
Woke up feeling good enough to not take pain meds. This allowed me to pass stool and made me feel so much lighter. Tried to drive but it was pretty difficult to turn the wheel with my arms. Took pain meds around 5pm and throughout the night when pain started to arise. Slept in the bed with pillows propped up and at an angle. Best sleep since day 1.
