Having undergone serious and traumatic pregnancy...

WORTH IT
Having undergone serious and traumatic pregnancy related difficulties since the age of 24, which included 8 miscarriages, 2 premature babies, the loss of a twin, a hysterectomy before the age of 30 and significant ongoing pain as a result of the need for a vertical incision as a result of placenta percreta, created a need to seriously consider reconstructive plastic surgery in the form of abdominoplasty.

As a 34 year old, the idea of cosmetic surgery seemed quite scary, especially since I was an otherwise fit, healthy and active person who was not overweight. The ongoing pain, however, as a result of the invasive surgery required during the birth of my second child, far outweighed this fear and was the reason I decided to see Dr Cheng.

From the outset it was clear that Dr Cheng's professionalism and experience were central to his high quality patient care and desire to assist in achieving results that would remove the extreme pain and daily reminder the scar brought of the significant pregnancy related difficulties. I felt extremely comfortable in his care and felt that his professionalism was further reflected through the professionalism of his administrative and support staff.

In the lead up to surgery, Dr Cheng and his staff were patient and I had significant opportunity to ask questions about the surgery. I very quickly understood that Dr Cheng was in the business of supporting his patients and wanted to work towards the best solution for my individual needs. I really appreciated that the difficulties that led me to the point of considering surgery were acknowledged, that the risks of surgery were highlighted and that Dr Cheng and his team gave me significant opportunities to ask questions to clarify the procedure, and the outcome of the procedure.

On the day of surgery I felt extremely comfortable and well-prepared. The anxiety that I normally felt pre-op quickly subsided as a result of Dr Cheng's outstanding bedside manner and with the support of the excellent anaesthesiologist that he recommends.

The post-op support that I have received from Dr Cheng and his team have been outstanding. Dr Cheng is not only extremely professional, but also an absolute reconstructive artist. When he took the bandages off I cried tears of absolute joy and relief for an hour. The original scar, which had not only given me significant, ongoing pain for the past years, was a permanent reminder of the devastating and traumatic pregnancy related problems that I had been through. When I saw my stomach post-operatively I was overcome with emotions that the visual signal of hope and despair that had brought so much pain had been removed.

I would absolutely recommend Dr Cheng to anyone considering reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Dr Cheng is highly professional, knowledgable and experienced; he gave me a second chance and I will be forever grateful. Thank you Dr Cheng and team.
