I'm a 49 year old mother and grandmother that has struggled with my weight for most of my live. I tried every diet you could think of.
On October 31,2015 I suffered a heart attack.
And everything went down hill after that. Now I'm 233 lbs have been diagnosed as borderline diabetic and the last diagnosis is neuropathy. My PCP and my cardiologist feel that the sleeve surgery would help me.
My surgery has been approved by my insurance company and is scheduled for
Dec. 06,2016. I'm scared, happy, and nervous all at same time.
So ready to get healthier! Not just for me but for my grandbabies also.

You will do great! It will be over before you know it. I just had mine on the 12th and I'm doing pretty good. Keeping my eye on the prize. Had my 2 week follow up this week and my blood pressure was normal, first time in a few years. No regrets, my future looks bright!

I forgot to mention that I'm down 20lbs and a size already. What a feeling. I'm not hungry, I have to make sure that I eat and drink on schedule, it is so important. My taste buds have changed too so don't buy too many protein shakes now, you may not like them after surgery. I cannot stand my chocolate drinks now but hopefully that will change. Crystal Lite and Genepro were a life saver for me. You will find what tastes good to you after surgery, trial and error. Good luck!

Only 5 days before surgery. Nerves are starting to kick in. Emotional rollercoaster I'm excited and scared. But I'm ready for a life style change.
The pre- Op diet has been a little difficult with the holiday but I have stuck to it.

By now you have been sleeved... and you're gonna rock! I'm almost at my one year mark... I haven't been super diligent the past couple of months (my husband has end stage renal failure and I'm barely able to keep him, my boys, and myself going). But ..... I'm 51 years old, and down from 225 lbs. to 180 lbs. Although it's not as dramatic as some other sleeved patients, it's been enough for me to get my BP normal, stop my diabetes meds, fit into size 16 pants, move my body a whole lot easier! And THE BEST part is I'm not going to gain that weight back this time!! Every pound you lose counts towards improved health. You go girl... you're still young and gorgeous!
