After a couple of consults I have finally picked a surgeon. My surgery date is Feb. 17th. I'm so nervous, excited, and yes... still apprehensive. I had gastric bypass 4 years ago and lost more than my today's total weight. And of course the boobs were first to go. I want to feel sexy and not be embarrassed when I'm intimate with my husband. I know he loves me for me, but I don't feel good about myself. Naturally he's super supportive. I have wanted to do this for a couple of years now and we're finally at a point in our lives that we can afford it. Now that's its scheduled, I have knots in my stomach... and I hear the voice of my sister telling me I'm being vain. Am I being vain? I have so many emotions running through my head, but I want it - so I'm not backing out now. My concern is this.... My dr didn't discuss much about pain management, other than he'd give me anything I wanted. I'm scared that I will be in so much pain. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain. Do you recommend a benzo too? Why would you recommend it? Thanks for reading my post. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, congratulations on your weight loss. Your new breasts will certainly top off your new look. Keep reading and commenting on reviews that you like...you'll see many other women experience that little voice asking then if their surgery is the right thing to do. ;) Regarding your concern about pain, be sure to let your doctor know that you're nervous about this. Most women are able to manage the pain very well so try not to worry too much. Feel free to join theĀ February 2016 breast augmentation surgery forum for some pre and post op support. Can't wait to see your results!

Have you decided on a size or profile yet? My Dr prescribed be Norco and Soma's. I have 2 ice packs to alternate and I bought a pillow with arms to help me sit up while sleeping. Lots of emotions. I keep worrying about size. 575cc moderate plus .when I try on the sizers they feel great.

Omg... me too. And then last night Grandma calls to tell me that my oldest son, who's 15, expressed to her that he's afraid I'll die and that I don't need new boobies. She talked with him, as have I, but I'll still worried about him. I dreamt last night that I didn't go through with the surgery because of him. I tried on the 500 and 550 sizes and both felt great. I'm still undecided. I'll likely go 500 because I was most comfortable in those and of the two they'll be the least obvious, I guess. What are Norco and Somas? My nurse called me yesterday to go through a few things and I paid for my surgery so it's becoming more real. I read somewhere to wet a baby diaper and freeze it because they make great ice packs. I got a few of those from a friend. I plan to try that method. I'm concerned about how I'll sleep after. I'm a huge side sleeper. I told my husband I'd likely be in the recliner for a few days post surgery just to keep me from trying to sleep on my side. Any other suggestions I should take into consideration before surgery? Are you getting excited?
February 4, 2016
Thank goodness my kids are little. They can sure lay on the guilt! Norco are pain killers and somas are muscle relaxers. My doc said no side sleeping for 6 weeks! I only sleep side. I made 1 drawer for zip up tops comfy pants and zip front sports bras. That way I have everything I need in one place. i have a small bin to keep all necessities in. Water, lip balm, lotion, remotes, iPad, pain pills, etc. anything you feel is important.
I am really excited!! Wanted to do this for years.

They sure can! My doc's office said they typically only prescribe Tramadol and tell you to take Tylenol. He's so confident with his method that he feels strong pain meds are unnecessary. That kind of turned me off at first, but I was upfront with him and said - I need to know that I have the option for strong meds... and he said Oh yes, I will get you anything you need. I have muscle relaxers already, so I'm golden. They don't hand out pain meds until the day of surgery. What a great idea to get everything all in one area next to where you'll be spending most of your time after recovery. I think Ill do that as well! Still 13 days to go. I plan to power clean the week before and cook a few meals ahead of time. My family won't starve if I don't, but it'll make me feel less guilty about being unavailable. How much time off of work are you taking off? Surgery is Wednesday for me and so I took off Wed-Friday. However, I work from home a lot, so I asked if I could just work from home for the 2 weeks post op. My boss was very accommodating for me. Thankfully... but I'm reading on here that people suggest taking a full 2 weeks off. I guess I'll just have to play it by ear and if I need additional time off , I'll bring it up later.

My pain meds prescribed were oxy codone with Tylenol, flexeril for muscle relaxer, Xanax because you will be freaking out the first few days with anxiety, and an antibiotic. My dr told me to fill them before surgery and take a Xanax the night before or you won't get any sleep. I had never taken one before and I can tell you it worked. My surgery wasn't until 1pm so I slept in, took a shower, did my hair, did laundry. I absolutely loved my anesthesiologist. I was concerned with throwing up afterwards and he said he had about 4 meds he could use to prevent it and it was the first time I have never vomited after surgery. They will make you so comfortable. My biggest advise is to take your pain med before it gets too bad. Good luck!

Wow!!! My surgeon told me he'd give me ativan in recovery but it sounds like they'll give me tramadol to go home. I'm going to ask for stronger pain meds and ativan. I'm so scared I won't be covered and I'll be freaking out

Purchased post surgery supplies

It's getting real folks! I spent nearly $200 on amazon yesterday for all my post surgery supplies including a couple of zip up sports bras, a wedge pillow to prop me up, scar reducing lotion, vitamins, button up and zip up hoodies/shirts, bed table for my lovely family to bring me meals in bed. Also has a neat prop up thingie so I can use my tablet comfortably, and a little bed cubbie compartment for magazines, tissues, remotes, etc. I'm getting so excited and nervous. My surgeons office called last week.... no aspirin meds until after surgery and Wednesday is the last day I can consume alcohol before surgery.... which is okay, I'm not a huge drinker anyways, but I won't be able to indulge for Valentines Day with my hubby, oh well. I go in for my preop tomorrow. What can I expect for this? Anyone know? By the way.... I would just like to say that I love all the bloggers on this site. I have learned so much and it's helped me prepare for my surgery date so thank you everyone!

Congratulations on your weight loss. I, too, had a big weight loss transformation when I lost 40 lbs which when.you're 5'2 like me is probably about 80 lbs for someone who's average height. I never felt self conscious of having small boobs. But with the weight loss now they are not just small but deflated. I fit in my 10 year old's blouses! My surgery is Feb 23rd. I'm looking forward to seeing your results :)

Congrats on your weightloss too! Yeah, I carried my weight well because I'm so tall. It was so nice to buy real sizes again. Hard to find clothes that fit when youre heavy and that don't break the bank. Good luck on your surgery.

Let us know what size you're going for and what is your bwd?
February 10, 2016
Sorry, what's bwd? I'm hoping for a large C, middle D cup.
User Avatar

Bwd is breast width diameter. It's how the ps determines what size as in "cc"s will "fit" you. For example, mine is 13 so I can go big in the implant if I wanted to.

Your ps has charts in his office that corresponds wuth the implant sizes available. If you know the brand of implant he or she uses, you can Google the chart. My ps uses Mentor brand. I'm leaning towards 275ccs or 300 ccs. That should get me to a small C cup.
February 10, 2016
Huh... that was never discussed. They did tell me I could go larger and get away with it because I am so tall. I chose to go with 550. They said I could easily go bigger if I wanted, but even that big makes me feel like I'm going all Pam Anderson
February 10, 2016
Very interesting... To be honest (and I'm a little embarassed to admit it) I don't even know what implant brand I'm getting. Isn't that terrible? What size are you now?

Oh don't worry. The ladies here have taught me a lot. I've been on this site for about 9 months learning all I can. I also chickened out on a surgery date before Christmas. Wish I hadn't! But now I feel better about it. I'm still nervous but better.
