29 Year Old Female Rhinoplasty: So Happy! - Wayne, PA

I had a rhinoplasty with Dr. Pontell 2 weeks ago. I am thrilled! I love my new nose and would do it again. It was worth it in every way. I saw him a year ago for an initial consultation and came back once more for some follow up questions. Both times Dr. Pontell was very helpful in truthfully answering all of my hundreds of questions. I am a 29 year old female who wanted to fix a drooping tip and protruding hump on my bridge. My fear was looking “done” and I wanted a very natural looking nose to go with my face, and even showed him pictures of celebrities whose noses I liked (Emelia Clarke from Game of Thrones was my favorite natural looking nose). I just wanted a cute, straighter nose instead of one that drooped and curved. I decided to have the operation in the early spring I was very nervous leading up to it, but once I paid, I had to go through with it!
Dr. Pontell was very professional and calm in all of my interactions. His confidence in his abilities gave me the confidence to do it. The actual day of the operation I was definitely nervous but ready to get the hard part over with! I saw Dr. Pontell right before the surgery and he asked if I had any more questions. I did not and the last thing I remember was the lights over the operating table.
The recovery after surgery was not fun, and definitely something to prepare yourself for. I had light bleeding but mostly discomfort from the swelling in the nose and face. The first 24 hours are the worst and then things get better. There wasn’t a whole lot of pain, just an intense feeling of pressure and discomfort. Tylenol took the edge off of it though, and I opted not to use the pain meds given me by prescription because they made me nauseous.
A week after the surgery, when the cast came off, I could use makeup for the bruises still under my eyes and most people if they did not look closely probably could not tell I just had surgery. Kay, the receptionist, even remarked I looked too good to have just had surgery a week ago!
When the cast came off and I saw my new nose for the first time, I loved it! It was the nose I wish I was born with and it integrates so much better into my face. I also feel like I look 10 years younger. It does not look “done” and my friends have commented that if they had not known me beforehand they would have never guessed if they just met me now that I had anything done with my nose. It truly looks natural and fits my face! Dr. Pontell really listened to what I wanted and delivered exactly that. It truly is amazing. I am in awe that someone can do a surgery so complex with such a beautiful result. I am so glad that I went through with it. Two weeks post-op, I still have a little swelling but not noticeable, and my nose is still tender to the touch but not painful. But, I notice a self confidence boost as a result of it. I no longer feel that I have anything to hide on my face. I don’t try to avoid cameras or a bad angle. I no longer feel that there is something aesthetically wrong with my face that I wish was different. I am no longer ashamed of a feature on my face and that has made a difference in the way I feel interacting with the world. The best way to describe it is that I don’t think about it anymore—I am no longer self conscious. Yes, the operation was expensive, but I believe it was totally worth it. I feel like it has already changed my life because it has changed my confidence level. Also, it made me realize that if I can do this and get through the recovery to the nose I always wanted, then I can reach other goals in life as well and get through any difficulty. So all in all I would totally recommend Dr. Pontell to anyone considering rhinoplasty or any of the other things he does. I feel confident saying that he will always treat you with courtesy and respect, do a natural looking job, and be available after the operation by phone at any hour. I highly recommend! Great experience!!!! I am so happy I did it!
