No significant changes in appearance though I definitely think my breasts are becoming somewhat more dense. When I massage, I feel "more" substance than I did a few months ago. My left side is still a bit misshapen, but my right side looks really good. I'm surprised by the extent to which I am still sore, especially if I don't wear a super supportive sports bra. I pretty much live in the zip front Jockey bra. Tried to sleep without a bra and also with a less supportive bra. Not good. I was quite sore the next day. There is some numbness of the skin along medial surface of both sides. Nipple sensation is pretty much the same as it was pre-explant. Both my nipples seem to be permanently erect. Hope that resolves with time.

Thanks for sharing. You look really good. I am 48 and have had implants since I was 18. I want them out but so scared of the results. I know health is more important than vanity, but just can't seem to get horrible thoughts of what I will look like.

I completely understand your concern. I had visions of empty sacks hanging off my chest. Overall, I am pleased with results especially considering my age, the length of time I've had implants, the over-the- muscle placement, and the fact that I had some nasty scar tissue internally. I was fretting about needing a lift with explant. Both my ps consults indicated that I would not need a lift, and I'm glad I listened to that advice. Most of the results I've seen on this site look pretty good. OF course, you have to keep in mind what would be normal for middle age breasts. WHen I bend over, my boobs look rather slack, but that was starting to be true even when I had the implants because that is what naturally happens as you age. IF you are struggling with health issues, the sooner the better for explanation, especially while you still have some elasticity in your tissue. I told myself that if I couldn't make peace with how I looked, I could replace the implants. HAppily, I know I won't need to do that. I'm content with my slightly messed up,left boob, my nice little right boob, and a few well-padded bras. I loved having the boobs my implants gave me, but it is a definite relief to have them gone. I can be done worrying about them. Good luck on your journey. YOu've come to the right place for info and support.

Thank you soooo much for sharing your story and photos. I've been wanting my implants out for about a year now and have asked all the questions you did. As soon as I come up with the money, these babies are out! I can't wait to have boobs that match the rest of my 57 year old wiser body and mind.

Thank you for sharing your journey. I'm going to my original PS in the morning to discuss removal and I'm really nervous. I had a breast cancer scare which is what lead me to the decision to remove these things. I've never really liked them anyway. I'm 57 and have had them for 8 years. I hope my results are as good as yours! I'm also hoping that my nipples will calm down because I hate trying to hide them all of the time. I also wonder if I'll get sensation back that I lost. You look amazing, so happy for you.

How'd your appointment go?
July 17, 2017
It went well. He answered all of my questions and did a thorough exam since my main concern was finding out what the lump in my breast was. He was confident it was a cyst that resolved itself. He was very surprised that I would want my implants removed since I'm not having any problems. I did ask about numbness that I've had since day one and if it's possible for feeling to come back once implants are out but he felt there was almost no chance of that happening. I was hoping!
July 17, 2017
And thank you for asking! How are you feeling by the way?
July 17, 2017
Glad you got input about the lump. That buys you some time to figure out a game plan. Both my sets of implants lasted about 15 years but after 10 years, apparently rate of failure increases quite a bit every year. I think surgeons are just starting to see the start of an "by choice explant wave. I didn't have numbness with my implants so can't speak to that. Interesting to me is how much warmer is my breast tissue than it was with implants. Blood circulation is definitely improved. Over the past few weeks I can also feel the tissue becoming more substantial/dense than it was right after surgery.

It's so good to hear you're feeling more dense breast tissue. I'm so afraid of what I'll look like. I accidentally looked at a BA post earlier & they were so beautiful! I cannot venture to that area again
July 18, 2017
I stay away from the BA reviews, too!! I did, however, send some time on the breast lift reviews because it helped me gain perspective on the fact that boobs are not naturally full, round, and perky (at least at my age)
July 18, 2017
I'll have to look at those too. I'm new on this site and it has helped quite a bit already. I had no idea so many women have problems with their implants. I wish I would have done a better job of looking at the "what ifs" before deciding to get these silly things. Tough lessons learned and very costly.
July 16, 2017
Thank you for sharing. I had mine out on June 21 and look kind of deflated. I know it's early but hoping they will fluff out. If not, I'm still glad I got rid of the implants.
July 30, 2017
you look so good!!!! You should check out the collagen I use....boob and skinned changer!!!! The best thing I've discovered and want to share with my explant sisters!!!!

Have you noticed whether you can do a breast self-exam and know what you're feeling? I am explanting next spring and one reason is because when I try to find lumps, all I can feel are (1) hard implants and (2) lumpy capsule crap. Is there a new normal that you can recognize yet? Thanks. I'm almost 57 and need these things out that were there since I was 18 (first surgery) and 21 (second to attempt to fix encapsulations).

I would say that a self exam would allow me to find a lump. The tissue is much warmer and certainly more natural feeling than it was when I had implants.

Healing continues. The bruise on my left side is almost gone. I'm still sore along upper pole and cleavage area but it improves little by little. Not ready to go braless or even to move away from my fairly tight sports bra. I wear that over an almost-antique tube top from the 80s. It has seen me through 3 surgeries and helps cushion the bra band against incisions. I've held on to it over the years in anticipation of an explant. After this, I'm getting rid of it! Incisions are still covered with sterile strips and I can see some sutures still in there. I'll wait until the end of the week and then peel off the tape. It is getting pretty grizzly- looking.

I've got a follow up appointment on July 6, which my psychological said I could cancel if I did not have any questions or concerns. Not sure yet if I'll keep the appointment. It is only an hour away and I suppose it is important for doctors to see how things resolved for patients in order to be better help future patients know what to expect.

You are looking good!

Thank you! I am not " thrilled", but I am certainly content with results.

Your breasts look very good. I have had implants under the muscle for 30 years and I want them out. I am happy to see such great results for you after your explants. Thank you for posting your story and results. It is really encouraging.

Thanks! I am so glad I found this site because it really helped me know what to expect. Best wishes as you move forward.

A Better Day

KCMR
Today was the first day I woke up and didn't immediately think about physical discomfort. The skin previously under the drain tape is still red but I'm not consumed with itchiness/sensitivity. It is still there, but so much improved. I didn't wear as tight a compression last night/today. Maybe that helped. I'm going to wrap up tonight and see what happens.

My range of reach has improved a lot. IMagine that is a slower process for under the muscle placement gals.

Being gone most of the day probably helped, too. DIstracted, so no time to overthink the situation. LOL.

So glad you're feeling better! I think everyone heals at a different pace. I think you look amazing! Every day will bring a little more progress and soon the pain will lesson. I'm on day 14 postop now and am just a little sore. My right breast still has a long indentation and in general I'm kind of floppy but I'm so happy. I haven't felt this good in well over a decade! All the symptoms I had are gone. Seems unbelievable. Wishing you a really good day today and a continued healthy recovery!
June 21, 2017
You look really good and each day you will get a little bit better. Remember there are some great bras out there that can make things look better than what they are, and everybody else is wearing them too!
June 21, 2017
Thanks! I have been watching YouTube videos about different bras and how to make the most of being small-chested. One thing I am loving is not having to work around my boobs when doing yard work. Huge improvement in that regard.
