YAG Laser - This Will Ruin Your Skin!

I had the YAG laser on my face to get rid of a few...

I had the YAG laser on my face to get rid of a few broken capillaries. Everywhere the laser was used has small indentations/scars, and there are two large scars on the side of my cheek right under my eye that look like someone took a knife and slashed me. I had completely smooth skin before this.
I knew something was wrong as soon as the dermatologist did the procedure, because he said he was going to turn the setting up, and it burned very badly. My face was oozing afterwards, and the scabs that formed didn't go away for weeks.
When I went back to the dermatologist to talk to him about this, he said to wait and see what happened. He claimed they would go away. It has been over a year, and they of course have not gone away. He then suggested that it was a result of sun exposure afterwards and said he could barely even see them. Come on! He offered to do subcision on the two biggest scars. That had absolutely zero effect. Then he suggested filler. Ummmm...so now I will have to get expensive fillers for the rest of my life on a scar that he created. Had I known this was a possibility, I would have never done this. I had been going to him for years and trusted his judgment.
This laser can easily scar your face. Every time I look in the mirror I feel sick. It literally cauterized my skin and scarred it. Please do not use this laser. You will regret it.

what was the name of the laser machine he used..Ecllipse? Re scarring..you might consider looking up Dr Des Fernandes MD..studies/articles on CIT for scarring. He is the inventor of micro needling. Located in Sth Africia. However, there is So much misinformation (by Dr's also) What i am suggesting is you read & understand the system of microneedling as designed. Then find a doctor who is willing to do as you request. If you apply as outlined..vit a & c creams 3 months prior then 1mm needling to bleeding once weekly for 6 weeks you Will have marked improvement in scars...& skin clarity & quality. Best regards

I'm going through the exact same thing right now :( I also have the "slash-like" indentation under my right eye as well as random shallow indents on my cheeks and a deep pitted scar along my nasal crease and one on the side of the bridge of my nose :( The laser used on me was the gemini 532/1064 nm.

Seriously? I am considering yag for small broken capillaries under my right eye that was caused by a steroid cream. They bother me a lot. How did you get such a bad outcome? This is supposed to be a gentle laser. I've never heard of indents and pitted scars from such a laser treatment.

All I can do is warn you. I cry every single day because of this. It's ruined my life. Maybe I'm shallow....but... this has killed my self confidence. I'm a recluse, now. Please, please, please consider that things can go horribly wrong. If I could go back in time...I would have just accepted myself, the way I was. What I've ended up with is soooo much worse.

You are NOT shallow deeniedoo! I feel the exact same way. I used to get compliments on my skin, and now I feel like everyone is just staring at my scars. I have cried so many many times over this. I am so sorry you are going through this. Hugs.

My scars have not improved at all! I have tried Vivace, Skinpen and Aerolase. If anything, I think they look worse from the treatments.

I've been doing series of at-home, TCA cross method treatments. My scarring has reduced dramatically! I'll never trust another doctor with my face again!

I'm so sorry that you're going through this :( <3 It's a traumatic experience, for sure.

Thank you so much!

Hi Deeniedoo-can you tell me how you are doing the at home TCA treatments? I have asked many derms about TCA, but they all say it isn't appropriate it my scars. Ugh.

Yes! I'll never trust another "doctor" with my skin, ever again. I'm doing the cross method. You take the end of a toothpick, dip it in tca 30% or higher and firmly press the toothpick inside any indented scar. You can also cut the end of the toothpick diagonally, so that it's not too sharp. I let the tca frost my skin (turn my skin white) and rinse. Over the course of a week, it lightly scabs over, falls off and new skin is underneath. It's basically chemical reconstruction of scars. My 3rd degree burn is about 90% better after only a few peels! I honestly wasn't expecting it to work this well. I'm trying to work up the nerve to do a whole face peel at a lower %, of course and spot treat all of my indented scars!

Thanks for the reply. I m so happy it is working for you! Do you have a reliable place to buy it? I have seriously thought about it, but I am so paranoid. I feel like I know my skin better than half of the charlatans I have seen though!

Hi urlm-All I can say is that lasers work really well for some people. it is a medical procedure, so there is always a risk. If the laser is used 99 times out of 100 (for example) without an issue. that is great, but if you are that 100th person, it can wreak havoc on your skin.

I've already been through hell after a filler treatment, which is what caused all these problems in the first place. I feel like the practitioner means everything when it comes to these treatments.. It's only a shame I don't know any trustworthy ones near me. I might have to travel. There are a lot of crappy doctors out there who are too inexperienced/don't care. I also feel like it's important to state realistic expectations and a desire to go conservative and rather have several treatments. I a lot of doctors push the limits because they want to create drastic results in one treatment. Why take the risk when you can do it over 2-3 sessions instead? This laser damage is certainly caused by too much energy, which is entirely the fault of the practitioner who did it too aggressively, in my opinion.

I have tried 4 rounds if microneedling with PRP and a round of Intensif, and there has been zero improvement. In fact, I think the scars look even deeper now and I have more little indents.
