I Wanted a Botox Browlift but Ended Up Looking Like a Stroke
$450
I was seeking some facial rejuvenation and consulted with a doctor at a large center. We decided on botox and PDO threads. Unfortunately here's where things went wrong for me. I did not discuss much more about how he was going to do this in the consultation and they said they could do it right then so I agreed. The procedure was fast and felt rushed and rough. I had tremendous swelling. The doctor did not provide aftercare instructions or tell me exactly what he had done. This is not a lunchtime procedure! I ended up looking like a boxer who lost the fight with swollen black eyes and on the sixth day woke up with the left side of my face paralysed like a stroke. I went back to the provider and he was not concerned and said it would go away. I asked what he had done and he said he injected 50 units total in my forehead area and three PDO threads in the brows. So I consulted with another doctor who ended up having more experience and they were alarmed. They said the amount of botox used was absurd for a patient new to botox.
I will never do this again. I have no idea if the stroke like appearance will go away. I look terrible. I feel terrible and uncared for.
Here's the take away.
Choose your provider carefully!! If its your first time go consult with several providers and see how they work.
Go on youtube and see how good providers work. There is one in victoria, Australia. Look him up. He demonstrates what I now consider high quality care. This should be the standard.
Ask ask ask lots of questions! How will they do it, how much botox, where? What to expect? Techniques?
I feel a good provider uses care and consideration by mapping out where they are going to go and discuss it with you before proceeding. They should use a vein finder for extensive injecting.
If its your first time, don't consult and do the procedure the same day! Go home and think about it. Ask more questions. Do your research.
And if the provider just wants you to trust his judgement, don't! It's your face and not his. You should be a partner in the journey not a victim like me!
Please be careful and approach botox with caution. There is such a cavalier attitude about it these days but as you can see by my outcome, which is poor, things can go terribly wrong. Proceed with caution!!

I’ve been advised that the first 4-6 weeks are most intense in terms of “frozen” appearance.
Also, try not to read negative botox stories online. It will only bring you down! Unfortunately, time will be our best friend. Nerve receptors start regenerating after 4 weeks and strengthen gradually from that point.
Hang in there and keep us updated.
