12-Week Post Op Pictures

So I had my 12 week post-op appointment with Dr. Wong and Dr. Purzycki. They are amazing surgeons and I'm so glad they performed my surgery. Everything is healing well. I still have some numbness to my tummy and I can feel little knots under my tt scar but I can also feel my abs underneath. They advise this is normal and that daily massaging will help the knots go away. I still get a few burning sensations or "zingers" to my breasts but they are less frequent and less intense. Some days, I still feel a little burning sensation to my nipples but when that happens, I just massage and rub my breast and it usually goes away. I still have some slight swelling in the afternoons below my belly button. I can see lines from my waist band and feel the puffiness but it is getting better every week that passes. I don't regret having the surgery, it was the best decision I ever made. My confidence level at age 50 is at an all time high. I can wear anything I want without feeling self conscious about stretch marks or baby belly flab showing. I only wish I had done this sooner so I could have enjoyed it longer. It was a trade off for me, and although my body is not perfect now, it is a definite improvement from what I had. I could have never achieved a hard, flat tummy and perky boobs from any gym. I know my scars will fade to small, white lines because I have very fair skin. My c-section line was almost invisible so I expect the same results in about a year. I massage daily with Palmers Cocoa Butter, drink lots of water, and take my vitamins.
Dr. Wong and Dr. Purzycki advised I could come back for some dog ear revisions that they could do in the office but I decided to wait until after 6-months of healing. I am feeling good now and just wanted to wait because the dog ears are not that bad. I have small ones under each breast and one on each hip. The ones on the hips came from the incision stopping on stretch marks. My next appointment is in September and the upcoming residents will correct anything that needs to be done at that time. Dr. Wong and Dr. Purzycki are there until mid June and advised me that they could schedule an appointment if I felt I needed to be seen for anything prior to them leaving. They are awesome!
So I will be posting some pics of my progress periodically and of course if I have any complications. For the ladies considering using Wake Forrest Baptist Residents Program, all I can say is...just do it. I look at other women's photos who paid a ton of money for their procedures with top notch surgeons and I feel like I got the real deal. I had two wonderful, experienced surgeons perform my surgery supervised by the senior plastic surgeon! I have had great results and aftercare at a very affordable price. I'm believe that Dr. Wong and Dr. Purzycki will go on to be very successful plastic surgeons in their private practices as it is already evident by the work they performed on me. I have not completed my review on them because I wanted to take the wait and see approach but I feel it is time so I will add that sometime soon.

6 week post-op with Dr. Wong & Dr. Purzycki

Six weeks post op check up today. Dr. Wong and Dr. Purzycki think my healing is going good. I no longer have to wear my cg except at night for the next two weeks. I can't wear an underwire bra until 8-weeks. I can use whatever I want for scar treatment but the most important thing is to massage my scars everyday.
My tummy is still tender and sore to the touch. I get shooting pains through my breasts and nipples which both docs say it normal for nerve regeneration. My scars have darkened and from what I have read, they are as dark as they will get at this point. Dr. Purzycki advised that they could stay that way for up to six months before they lighten back up. It really just depends on how your body heals scars. I have lost 10 pounds and down to a size 6 since my surgery from just eating clean and light. I still have some swelling that seems heavier in the afternoons because I feel thinner in the mornings.
I have a few areas that are very small dog ear and/or puckering that I may or may not require a revision. It is still too early to know if they will resolve by themselves yet. Docs removed the surgical tape under my breasts ( Used for support, no horizontal incision) today. I don't need to wear it anymore.
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my results at this time. My appearance has improved dramatically but haven't bought any new clothing yet, I'm still getting used to the changes to my body.
Next check up is six weeks from today. I'm not sure I will post any new pics until then.

Wake Forest Hospital Observation Bill and 4-week Post-Op Pics

So I am 4-weeks and one day post-op as I write this update. NO problems, redness, signs of infection, draining etc. Everything is healing nicely. I still get little zinger pains to my boobs and practically no pain except boobs are still sore and tender to touch only, otherwise I don't have and pain. Tummy is still numb and I can feel the scar tissue under the tummy tuck incision. Dr. Wong advised me to do some light, little circular massages to my incisions. I'm still wearing tape under my boobs for support and have two small vertical pieces left on the bottom incisions of my boobs. When they fall off, I was instructed to leave them off but continue to place new tape under the horizontal creases of my boobs for support. No scar treatment yet but I have been using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Cream all over, even the incisions. The itching is completely gone for now.
So I had to stay over one night at Wake Forest for observation and received the hospital bill yesterday. For the ladies who are interested in going through the residents program, I thought I would let you guys know the costs break down. I was surprised that it didn't cost as much as I thought.
Medical/surgical supplies and devices-$99.80
Pharmacy-$25.45
Treatment for observation room-$392.25
Total- $517.50
Again, if any of you have been following my journey, the only medications I took were two antibiotics while I was there. I think $25.45 was a bit excessive for two pills. I'm glad I declined the stool softeners and pain meds! I came prepared with all my pre-filled medications packed in my overnight bag and took two of my own oxycodone (which were free after my insurance paid) about 3:00 a.m. and started my stool softeners when I got home that morning but that was my decision. I probably could have did without pain meds as I was still under anesthesia and pain meds from the surgery earlier that day but I just wanted to make sure it didn't wear off by morning. So there you go...I will start making monthly payments and am glad the hospital bill was reasonable. I was really expecting it to be more expensive. Oh yeah, the hospital did provide one meal that afternoon, which I ate part of and gave the rest to my hubby. I took a lot of pics but had trouble uploading them, not sure what pics you will get to see after I press "post update" Some squares are blank...
