Obera - 47 Years Old (Nervous and Anxious) Preparing for Procedure *edited* Changed Mind

I did NOT go through with procedure
$8,495
When I went in for my procedure I had a vasovagal response to the IV being inserted. This has happened to me before and I know it's very common. However, having the nausea come on so strong and feeling sick so quickly caused me to pause and ask myself whether I wanted to go through with the procedure. I took some time to relax myself, talked with my husband, and decided that at this time I do not want to go through with it. That was over 2 months ago and I do not see myself changing my mind and having the Obera inserted.

1 day pre
Day before procedure
It’s the day before my procedure. I’ve already met with the doctor, dietician, and picked up all my medications. I had to stop taking ibuprofen one week ago which has been hard because it helps with some of my joint pain and headaches. I’ve loaded up on protein shakes (both powder and ready made), powder peanut butter, protein water, etc. I started taking a specific antacid mediation 2 times a day and will be taking it the whole time I have the balloon. Three kinds of anti nausea medicines (the patch, sublingual, and rectal), an anti cramping med, and an anti anxiety (to help with sleep, anxiety, muscles relaxing). I have an appt on Monday morning for IV fluids. I like that they do that automatically. Trying to stay optimistic about the next few days but I’ve read all my handouts and this forum so I know things are probably going to get unpleasant.

I have mine placed this week. My Dr. does the meds automatically too so I am hoping for less negative side effects!
Good luck! Keep posting!
I would love to hear how you’re doing with it. I went in for my procedure and after my IV was put in (had a Vagel response which I knew what was going on with my body but it still sucks) I got scared. I took some time to calm myself, talked with a friend, and decided not to have it done. They still have my deposit and I can go back. I’m waiting to make tha decision.

I've gained 50lbs in the past four years (5'5" and 200lbs) due to caring for my elderly mom, going through teenage/college years with my two kids, taking online math classes (sedentary and stressful), and self-medicating. It's shocking how quickly this weight has come on. The only other time I weighed this much was right before I delivered my youngest child.
I've read through the shared experiences on this forum (thank you to everyone who has posted...it helps SO much to know what things are really like) and although I am really nervous about this (I almost decided to cancel), I'm going to go forward and have it done on May 12th.
One concern is that I can't take ibuprofen while the balloon is in. I have some joint/back pain (no surprise) as well as monthly endometriosis pain. Anyone has suggestions for things that have helped if they've have significant pain besides Tylenol?
I got my pre-op paperwork today so I'm going stock on supplies. I also thought maybe I would pay for a month or two of healthy single serving meals delivered. It's going to take me awhile to learn how to cook/eat differently and one thing that sabotages me is the feeling of being deprived. Anyone do something like this or maybe a cookbook or new appliance (thinking George Foreman like) that really helped them?
Thanks and I'll keep you updated.
