I had entered the dates my implants were put in incorrectly. I actually got them January of 1990, not 2000. They were 28 yr old implants. I hadn't noticed my error until I had already posted and once posted you cannot edit.

Feeling great and so happy. The healing process has been a roller coaster at times. My right breast had more trauma with the drain tube having broken off and the surgeon having to go back in for it's removal. And at one point the scar tissue in my right breast was so much and so hard that I was fearful that was how it was going to be forever. But after about the 5 month mark, it all softened and became very natural as it should. Overall, I am very happy and they feel great! I still get an occasional phantom pain or some itchiness, but it passes quickly. Just had follow up with surgeon and he is pleased as well.

Wow! I'm happy for you that all is going good after your experience.
My situation closely resembles yours. I'll be 59 in Nov. Little over a month away.
I have textured silicone implants in front of pec muscle in Dec.1991, two weeks before FDA banned silicone. For 27 years now I've had the best time with my size C implants, from a small A now D+ due to weight gain.
I recently discovered that my right implant is ruptured. I had thought it was my left since it is encapsulate contrtacture and has begin to be bothersome.
My MRI showed no silicone is leaking into my body but I'm not sure I believe that. I'm forced to have them removed and I'm nervous and scared. For one the expense is more than they cost in '91and unless I travel to my surgeon who was phennominal I'll have to find another Dr. to trust. Difficult these days. I don't know if I want them replaced or completely gone. Those drain tubes sound horrible

Yes, the tubes really sucked! I was pretty fortunate and never had any hardening, or scar tissue problems from the implants. My right implant had started to open according to the surgeon, but there was no leakage. Like you, I had weight gain and became a full D cup. Since having them taken out I am not having any more back pain from the weight of those suckers. Because I am heavier than I was back in 1990, I am wearing a C cup bra at the moment which I was surprised. But it is a lose C, so I expect they will get a bit smaller as I am on Weight Watchers. And I was an A cup by nature. I wish you well on your journey! This site helped me so much and I hope it does for you too! Good luck!

Finally feeling really good. Still a tiny bit of tightness under the breasts at the incisions, and a bit of itchiness here and there, but overall feeling so much better. I can sleep in any position comfortably. There is still a weird sensation of numbness and itchiness on my sides. But I am happy with how they are looking.

Wow you look great! I’d say you look at least 20 years younger than your age. Congratulations! Hope you continue to heal well!

Geez, you've been through quite the ordeal. You're looking good..healing takes time. Before you know it you'll feel like a new woman...with losing weight and all. Don't lose too much weight. It seems the boobs are the first place weight comes off when losing weight...for me anyway..... But everyone is different....and I am over the moon that I am five weeks post Explant surgery on 35 year old BI...they weren't very big but when ever I went up ten pounds over the years, I felt like a cow. So grateful for RealSelf....especially the shared stories of the older women like myself....very encouraging. Best wishes to you, for a great recovery! :)

Thank you. Yes it was an ordeal, but worth it in the end. Weird looking at former pics and seeing how huge my breast had become. So happy now!
