6 months

Hello. It's been a while. Have been healing and sort of in limbo so was waiting a while to get big picture. I would say that things are going well. I love how my tummy looks. Not in love with my incisions. At tummy u can see the scar. At abdominal incision, there are dog ears at the ends. Not horrible but there. I am going to see my surgeon next week. Fixing them is included in the cost of my original surgery and will see what he says re: the belly button. So I would definitely recommend to someone to make sure u know what is included if u r not happy with something. Some surgeons can nickel and dime u. Really happy that my guy includes these fixes.
Also wanted to talk about post surgery work outs. I am an active person. I worked out a lot prior to my surgery -5-6 times a week. Usually I did t25 or p90x. I was strong and except for my abdominal region, felt great. Well after surgery, u can't work out at least as aggressively as before. So if u enjoy working outu will need to take a break. I was able to physically resume my more aggressive work outs probably at 4 months but they r harder to do and the abdominal/core sections are still a little challenging. Most research says it could take 8 months to a year. The reason this is an issue for me is that over the summer I had lots of wine and food so u will see that in other areas like your legs and flanks. If u can't work out as aggressively then u should be careful re: what u put into your body BC u will see it in other places. At least for me I think that was the case. I am getting back into a good routine of eating better, working out, working ,etc. It takes a long time to get yourself back to feeling like yourself. Patience is key. I hope everyone out there has happy healing!

3 1/2 weeks

Hi. Its been a little while. Had not felt well inbetween week 2 and 3. Very nauseous. Might have had a small stomach bug. I have been doing more. Energy picked up at -3 weeks. Cleaned my house a couple of days ago and did too much. Very, very swollen after and was very uncomfortable. Lots of pressure at my belly button and at the incision. It made me concerned but after a couple of days of doing less swelling went down. Overall like my results. Still have swelling but to be expected BC lymphatic system still regrouping after the surgery. From what I read that can take a minimum of 3 months. So the swelling is here to stay for a while.
Looks like I have a small dog ear on the left so will keep an eye on it. Incision is a little wanky in the middle. Sides healed well. Dr said there is less blood flow in the middle so it heals slower plus that part has the most tension. Just impatient at this point. Ready to feel better and be out of the woods with the healing phase.
I am allowed to start scar treatment with the caveat to be more careful in the middle. Plan on using silicone sheets. Need to get something for belly button. I can also puck up my activity. Allowed longer walks, hikes, and jogging when I feel I am ready. Dr said to take it slow and to pay extra attention to my body. If I feel like I did too much then I probably did and should scale back. No core work allowed at this time. Just need to take it slow. Happy healing to everyone.

day 10

So up to day 10. Doing well drains came out on day 9. Off pain meds. Occasionally taking Advil. Still some swelling but to be expected. Almost fully upright. Happy healing!
