I had a rhinoplasty done about 12 years ago. I liked the results very much but over time one side had gotten a little concave, there was a 'ski slope' look to my profile on one side and the cartilage had shifted so that the tip had a strange sharpness on one side. My original plastic surgeon who I love did a tip revision only, with no grafting done. It's still very early and while I am sure my nose is better than it was, I am worried it still looks projected. He says this is swelling and will subside over time. I would love feedback - any one else have an experience like this where the actual results didn't present accurately at first? Even if my nose doesn't get any better I guess I am better off now than I was before and give it time.

You still look swollen at the tip. Revision rhinoplasty takes longer to heal than primary rhinoplasty.....usually over a year. The tip takes the longest for the swelling to go down. Give it more time before you or anyone can judge the work done. I would guess by about 6-8 months you should really be able to decide if you are happy with your nose. Best of luck. ;-)

Thank you! In fact already today a few days since I posted this I feel it has gone down quite a bit

I think this is a little like my case. While it’s true that's too early to judge, I notice from your 3 last pix you show here that the problem is not only the tip as I don't think the tip would become more prominent by swelling, I think it would rather widen the tip but maybe I'm wrong I don't know. I too need to SHORTEN my nose. That's what I'm asking my surgeon to do at his correction (which he offered to do free but which I'm not sure I'll accept) which I had requested before surgery but he didn't do! Or, you may want to browse Dr. John Hilinski who devotes great part of his website to rhynoplasty and presents himself as a rhynoplasty expert. Unfortunately for both of us he’s in San Diego, but his site is very enlightening and worth browsing and reading. I already sent him my “Virtual Consultation” as I want to see what he thinks. He doesn’t seem to charge for this VC so why don’t you also consult him and see what he says... Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck! :o)

You are very beautiful :) I am also a patient of Dr Carraway (for something else not nose related) and agree with you, he is a gem. For your nose I do not think a simple tip revision is going to give you much deprojection, that is changing the structure of the nose, beyond the scope of tip work and is more of a major revision/reconstruction work. That may not be something you want to get into as you look lovely already, you say you are pleased with the tip work alone, and not interested in a more invasive surgery.

I already had a full rhinoplasty years ago and would not do another one. The doctor says it can look still projected from swelling so I guess time will tell. Thanks

Out nose looks awesome and yes the swelling seems to be longer to subside on revision then on initial surgery my nose has been slowly looking different as time goes on too as I had revision in dec and was quite shocked at how "big" it looked at first

Thank you! My husband thinks I am nuts. I am seeing every day I think a little change. The bridge of my nose does not bother me at all - and I definitely see some discoloration like bruising and redness as it goes down into the tip. I have to believe this is swelling. As one poster said that tip revision would not help with projection, I just can't believe that. I have had doctors on this website and my surgeon say that's exactly what tip revision is supposed to do! Again, it's not like I have any problem with my bridge looking large - that would definitely require bony structure re-do. Thanks again. I will post more pics soon!

Swelling definitely going down! New pics

So now I am 12 days post operation and I definitely think the tip is receding. The nostrils are not symmetrical but honestly I can live with that. You can't see it from the front view at all (unless I look up at the sky!) My husband has a perfect nose and his nostrils aren't symmetrical either so I'm not going to sweat it. No one knows how this feels unless they go through it themselves - anxious and hopeful you will get the outcome you had hoped for! Good luck to everyone else out there (:

Your nose is looking awesome! Your nose is perfect. On the 7th of July 2015, I had a forehead reduction and I'm loving it:) but I do have to say, I'm also looking to correct a problem that I have with the tip of my nose. On March of 2007 I had a rhinoplasty and what I wanted was the tip of my nose to look more like your tip and instead what I received was a huge tip which doesn't go with my face. I'm definitely, working on looking for the right surgeon. Your nose is perfect :)

I tried to get some other shots with smile too for a better angle - I do think swelling is subsiding and making a difference in projection (at least I hope! lol)

Think you have had a very nice revision as I imagine like any revision it was difficult and becomes more difficult with each surgery and you have been very lucky to not required another full nose job- kept the price very reasonable and healing. I hate my nose and Ive had 4 surgeries - don't know what to do anymore and scared of making it worse. Don't want my photo taken either. Lovely photos btw !! Best wishes.

Thank you! I am sorry to hear you are not happy. In reading stories on this website it seems I am lucky I feel content with a revision - so many are not. My doctor had said 80% chance of good outcome so there really is margin for things not healing properly it seems. Don't be hard on yourself it's probably better than you think!

Definitely an improvement! I had one years ago but as I got older it seems like it is growing! I would like to have it redone. Yours looks great!
