Nervous but Ready to Get Saline Implants overs out After 9 Years - Chesapeake, VA

I am 38 years old and had 300 cc saline implants placed in front of muscle 9 years ago. I started with a 34C size and wish I had never had the implants. After implants I was a 34 D but now am up to a 34 DDD. I just want to be natural again, buy a cute bathing suit in the store instead of ordering online and not get blisters from wearing a halter style! I have never been one to "flaunt" them at all and hate having to find ways to cover the cleavage. I have had one consultation so far and two tomorrow to have them explanted. I have decided not to have a lift done and just hope for the best. The first consult I had I asked about the saline deflation beforehand and he looked at me like I was crazy..lol. One of the consults I have tomorrow does deflate them beforehand to get a better idea of what kind of breast tissue I have etc before actually removing them completely which sounds good to me. Either way they are coming out and I am REALLY nervous about how they will look afterwards. I have never been pregnant so I have not breastfed, do have some stretch marks from when I initially went through puberty. I hope to have them "deflated" and removed in the month of March.

Thanks for sharing your story. I am going to my consultation on Tuesday. I hope to book surgery within the next week and a half. I just want them out! I regretted them from day one. I thought I would get used to them. 3 1/2 years later I am still wanting them out. I was a 34B and now a 34D. I hope to bounce back without a lift. I never nursed my kids (I wasn't producing milk). So let's see. I had my kids prior to implants. Good luck!! We could totally be sharing thus journey together as well as other women here sharing their amazing stories. I've seen done really good results here.

I am so happy for you. I had mine removed May 2013. No lift, fat transfer or replacement. I am 50, and I did breastfeed prior to implants. Thrilled you are getting several opinions. All docs have different theories and different motivations. Mine were silicone unders. I had them removed under local and in-office. My only regret personally is that I let him remove part of a healthy capsule against my better judgement. I would have preferred since they were healthy, he left the capsules alone. All said and done it feels fantastic to have them out. Just make sure you give yourself time to heal. It takes time for our bodies to bounce back so don't do anything rash before at least 6 months and I would say a yr. You can always have a lift later but I think you will be thrilled after the healing process and won't want or need to. Don't let anyone talk you into anything you are not comfortable with like additional surgery too soon. The human body is amazing and very resilient. Im not a Dr. and just my opinions. Love and best wishes xoxo.

Thank you for the comment:) I had one DR yesterday say he wanted to removed the capsules and the other one says he doesn't. Why did you regret having the capsules out?
February 27, 2014
Why exactly do you regret having the capsule removed?
February 27, 2014
I just feel that if the capsules are healthy, (soft, thin, no CC) and the implants have not ruptured it is riskier to remove them. They are scar tissue that your own body formed. They are oftened adhered to the breast tissue, muscle, skin or chest wall. I feel there is more bleeding, more risk for damaging other parts of your body that the scar tissue may have adhered to and it will only create more scar tissue. The body's natural response. Again, I'm not a Dr. By any stretch. I do have a degree in health science with a fairly good understanding of the human body but this is only my opinion. I've read multiple stories on this site of some that have all, part or none of the capsule removed. Check out different stories. Its helpful. But I think the one thing most everyone agrees on that has had them removed is they are so happy they did. As am I. I think you will be too.

I am getting more and more excited for you!! Have you had them deflated yet? I am four days post now and very comfortable. Keep us updated!! :-)

Onebrightday. I understand where you are coming from COMPLETELY! I am having explant surgery on March 14th. However, I am having a lift at the same time due to the fact I have had my implants 22 yrs. So, I know I would be super saggy baggy if I don't have a lift. My implants were great for a long long time. A couple yrs ago they started getting firm and now they are super hard although the right one is much worse. My implants have shifted upwards on my chest so now I look like some matronly old lady as my boobs have gotten bigger. I have gained some weight and I swear every single ounce went straight to my boobs. Keep us posted on your progress. Sounds like you have made the right decision and you will do fine. Smiles

So glad you found us and that you started your story! It looks like you're already getting some support from the awesome ladies here. Please let us know when you decide on a surgeon. Here's what some doctors say about removing the capsule during explantation. I hope it helps.

SCHEDULED-2 weeks from tomorrow!

ok I am scheduled! i have an appointment next Wed to have them deflated in the office first. My explant itself is scheduled for Friday March 14th. This also happens to be my 2 year anniversary of quitting smoking:0) I have elected not to have the capsules removed as they are soft and I have never had any issues with them. The PS said my nipple could come up a little or go down a little but hopefully up! ...lol. I am excited to have smaller boobs again~hopefully they don't look too bad. My husband and I are going on vacation in May so hopefully things settle by then.

Well girls that makes three of us having nearly identical surgeries the exact same day!!! Who ooo hoooo! We will all have to stay in touch on this site to check on each other. Mdulca.your sx and mine are identical. Forgot to check..R u having a capsule to my too? I am b/c mine are all hard and fibrous. Can't wait for soft boonies again. And onebrightday...you are going to be so very happy too. Your procedure sounds a little less complicated and less invasive than mdeluca.and mine. Your sx and recovery should be a breeze. The three of us will be counting the days together. Smiles and hugs to both of you.xo

I am having my capsules removed. Mine are still pretty soft but since I'm getting a full lift and a reduction on the right side might as well. So excited to be getting so close!

awesome! I am getting deflated this wednesday so I will get my PS to take before & after pics. I am not getting a lift so hopefully they don't look too bad
March 3, 2014
Thank youLoriOB:) I am quite nervous about deflation wednesday of the outcome. The "bags" get taken on the 14th under general and I know its a long process with bouncing back and "fluffing" so we will see!

btw, who cares if they are a little "droopy," it's amazing what the right bra can do!!! a low cut top or dress looks much better with less boob anyway!
March 4, 2014
Well stated!!! I am so excited to be smaller!! A good bra and the right clothes go a long way!! :-)
March 4, 2014
True and I am looking forward to being able to wear that stuff without a lot of cleavage showing, I never show my cleavage so will be nice to have more options:)

Thank you derasha:) I am excited but also very nervous! I like the size of your "wish" boobs too. I was a 34C before implants so hopefully I end up somewhere around there or even a little smaller. I am not getting a lift so hopefully they aren't too droopy:/
