Full Incisional Double Eyelid Surgery with Epicanthoplasty...Los Angeles, CA

I was born with mono eyelid, growing up in Japan,...

I was born with mono eyelid, growing up in Japan, many Japanese have bigger eyes, my mom took me to get a suture method double eyelid procedure right after high school (then I moved to the US), but it only lasted for a year, so my mom took me back to the same doctor and redo the same suture method procedure, but that only lasted about a year then faded away, then I've been wanting to get my eyes done again but this time full incisional so it will last longer and I can wear mascara instead of false eyelashes and don't need layers of eyeliner and shadows... First I told my mom I wanted to get it done in Japan, but she told me I've been living in LA, so I should find a doctor locally, so I started to search for an asian doctor in LA who specialize in Asian eyes. On the surgery day, I let the Doctor decide the size of the crease since he is an expert, he told me I have a strong eye opening muscle so I shouldn't get big creases, so he gave me 6.5 mm, the surgery took about 2 and 1/2 hours (longer than what I expected) , I guess he took his time and also made sure everything was good, the surgery was painless, just a little tickle on my eyelids. After the surgery, I didn't get sick or anything, just my left eye getting watery for few days, and lots of swollen and bruising, and slight pain on my right eyelid. Lots of icing for first few days and warm packing after, trying to keep low sodium diet but it's tough... My friends think my eyes don't look bad for such a short time after the surgery, the doctor told me it will take about 4 months to heal... It's been 11 days after the surgery, it's still pretty much stollen and still have remaining bruises. I will keep it posted here.

Finally stitches were removed...

Hi everyone, so a week after my surgery, the stitches were removed, some Drs. Remove them 4 or 5 days after the surgery, but I'm glad that mine was left in for the whole week. Removing the stitches hurt the most of this process because the stitches were so fine, the nurse had to pull them to be able to cut I think... The Dr. And the nurse said it looks good ( but they prob say that to all the patients...), he said I can put make up on but my eyelids were still numb so I waited till the 12th day. Still have the remaining bruises and swollen eyelids...

Day 14 post op...

So on the 14th day post surgery, I finally went out to a restaurant with my friends with make up on but without my big glasses... Hopefully my friends didn't recognize that I got my eyes done...

Scar gel...

Today is post op day 20, going to see my Dr. Tomorrow for check up. The inner corner bottom of my eyes started to itchy few days ago (I think it's healing?), I saw this girl on this site using a scar gel so went to wholefoods and Walgreens but couldn't find the organic gel that she was using so I ended up buying the Walgreen kind because it was small enough to fly with it and I had to fly back to LA today. I've been using this scar gel for 3, 4 days, it doesn't burn my eyes, has light nice scent and sooth my eyes but not greasy at all. I just gently rub this gel on the scars on my eyelids and the bottom inner corner 3, 4 times a day, it stopped the itchiness.

3 week check up...

I went to see my Dr. for 3 week check up and he gave me scar injections, he told me between 3 and 6 weeks post op, the scars from Epi become the worst... I did not know about this but Dr. Choi did tell me when I went to get my suture removed, it would get worse like lumpy around the scars... He was right... I guess this is a part of healing process, no pain no gain...

One month post op...

So I went skiing with my friends for the first time after the surgery, make up is so much easier and fun, the bruising underneath the eyes are almost completely gone, my friends who hadn't seen me in a while told me I look pretty, I look younger, I got lots of compliment on my whole look just with my eye surgery.
I know my creases are gonna get smaller as the time goes by but I kind of like how my creases sitting high so hopefully they won't get too small, I'm happy with the result so far.

One month post op...

5 weeks post op...

Hi everyone, it's been 5 weeks since the surgery, the swellness is slowly going away and my creases are coming down, I started to feel comfortable going in public without make up or fake glasses. I'm going to see the Dr. tomorrow to get another scar injection, I'm anxious to see what he will say...

Almost 2 months...

So on the 7th week post op, I went to see the Dr. He gave me another scar injection and told me the scar is under control so I won't have to see him till April.
The bumps on the inner corner is almost gone (he told me to massage those bumps) it's still slightly red, I've been using scar gels and he told me I have a nice scar, but what he meant was my scar is healing nicely...

It's been 8 months since the surgery...

I've been putting scar gels, now I put it on just at night before I go to bed but I forget sometimes...
The scars on my eyelids are almost invisible:)

Los Angeles Facial Plastic Surgeon

I decided to go with Dr. Choi after getting multiple consultation from different doctors, some of them tried to push me to get something that I wasn't thinking about getting, some doctor wanted to charge me $100 for a consultation! But Dr. Choi saw me twice with no charge, he was very nice and took his time to explain everything.
