Here I am, finally!
I'm 63 years old and have hated my big, saggy breasts for decades. I'm 5'2", 140 pounds, and wear a 40D minimizer but I'm pretty much busting out of it.
Within the last year, I was diagnosed with a torn shoulder ligament on one side, and I'm pretty sure I have the same thing on the other side too. As soon as I received the diagnosis, the little wheels began to turn, and I started asking about whether a breast reduction could be approved by my insurance company. It took some work and I had to re-apply after an initial denial, but I've been approved and my surgery is in two weeks.
I had my pre-op yesterday and I'm starting to get nervous! It's just my husband and me here, so I'll have to prep some meals for him (and stuff like Jell-O and broth for me). I quit smoking and switched to an e-cigarette, so I just dropped my nicotine levels to zero. And I'm going to the mall today to get some button-front shirts (of course I have none LOL) and a few of those ugly front-close bras, and maybe a wedge pillow.
I love fashion and I sew. But so many styles look terrible with these boobies, so I'm looking forward to recreating my wardrobe.
Thanks to everyone who's boldly described her journey on this page!

You are going to just love your new set. I also was 63 and I waited much too long. My one girlfriend said once your nipples face the floor they can't drop any lower. My main advice is listen to your ps and rest as much as you can. You will be so full of joy and pain free. Also please be very specific with your ps on the size your want to be. I told my ps again when he was marking me right before my surgery. He reassured me that he would honor my wishes to the best of his ability as long as the circulation to my nipples wasn't compromised. I went to sleep feeling very confident and reassured. Best of luck

I've got my meds, my old-lady bras, one of those big bacvkrests, and I've been throwing together clothes to wear during recovery. Finally got my squeamish husband to at least look at a drawing of the surgery!
I'm sure my doctor will do a great job; my nervousness seems to be all about the pain and probable nausea to come. Can't stop puffing on my fake cigarette! I'm going to pull all of those horrible minimizers out of the dresser this weekend...and I was looking thru my wardrobe...since I sew I seldom throw anything out. I see SO MANY things I'll be able to wear again!! That's really exciting.
I feel as though I'm going to reclaim my life!

I know you are getting excited!! And just a tidbit... I hope your fake cigarette does not have nicotine in it! My doctor told me no smoking 2 weeks before surgery or I would end up with "big gaping holes" and I told him I use an e-cig and showed him. He said it is not the tobacco and whatnot, it is the nicotine because it constricts your blood vessels and the breasts do not get the oxygen they need to heal. Don't wanna be a downer- but just wanted you to know b/c I had no idea! Good luck on your surgery- can't wait to see the pics!

Yes, I do know that in this case the nicotine is the culprit; it obstructs blood flow.
