I have wanted to do this for years, but always felt like the money could be better spent on the kids or the house, etc. I still feel this was, but I'm doing it anyway.
At 46 yrs., 5'8" and 160lb, I'm not considered fat by any means. I have 3 kids, ages 26, 22, & 18, and still have a belly that looks like I am 8mo pregnant, (1 kid gave me a 48" & 63 lbs all belly before he arrived), hence the need for a TT.
I do have fibromyalgia and the pain that is coming with this TT & Lipo scares the crap out of me, almost to the point that I want to cancel it, but I wont. My PS is also somewhat of a friend, as our daughters have cheered at the same gym together for 8yrs, so I do expect him to go the "extra mile" in making me look great, BUT I'm still nervous!!! I quit smoking back in Sept.2013 (yea me) but still concerned about the healing process, not to mention the anesthesia on a former smoker.
Is there anything I can do now to make the TT less painful or heal better? What things should I use when I get home to help with comfort?

This is so exciting! I can relate to you as I am also a mother who always thought (and still thinks) any money I spend on myself could be better spent on the kids. I had a TT in December 2013, and I am thrilled with the results! My doctor (Dr. Basu) used a drug called Exparel which was incredible. The day after my TT I had to stop myself from going up and down the stairs and decorating my house for Christmas. I felt great. He also sewed my abdominal muscles back together since I had major diastasis. I have a set of twins (along with one more), and no matter how much weight I lost, or how many sit ups I did, my tummy just wouldn't budge. This was one of the best decisions I've made in a while! As for pain, I do not know how fibromyalgia would come into play, but I know that my pain was very well managed by the prescription pain medicine. The biggest mistake I made was not taking the time to rest. I figured after having 2 c sections, I could handle it. I really wish I would have stayed down longer than I allowed myself. As a mom of small children, it was nearly impossible for me to get a full two weeks of rest. I slept with a pillow under my knees for a long time afterwards, and that helped a lot. It took the pressure off of my lower back, as well as kept me from stretching my stomach. I am also an ex smoker (I quit only a month before my surgery…yes shameful, but true), and I didn't have any issues with anesthesia. That is something I would talk to your anesthesiologist about though if you are still worried about it. This is very exciting, and I'm looking forward to reading your updates! I just bought a bikini for the first time in years. Several months ago, I would have thought that would have never happened. Good luck to you, and please keep us posted!!

Let me reassure about the anesthesia, since that's what i do. Quitting in september is awesome by the time you have your surgery, it will be about 6months. very good. you may cough a little after surgery, but nothing long lasting, so dont worry about the anesthesia and your lungs. youve done exactly what you needed to! way to go.

I also suffer from fibromyalgia and take Cymbalta which I had to stop for 2 weeks before surgery. I went to the Dominican and got a tummy tuck with lipo on sides from underpits to flanks. I did not experience pain, The lipo is bad it feels like your muscles really hurt and you get hard spots that need to be massaged . That is what is the worse and so worth it. Good luck.

You'd think I was still pregnant!!!!
I'm so hoping the pain and discomfort is worth this huge expense, Made my last payment today, 10 day and counting. The Hubs is trying really hard to make sure he has no work to do the week of surgery, but being self employed its going to be hard for him to turn down a job, especially after this bill. The only child at home has class until 2:30pm every day. So I asked my mother to come and stay with me in case the Hubs has to do some work, she said NO!!! So lets just pray the Hubs has no work called, or that I'm going to be in good shape until my baby girls gets home from school.
