My ears had always stuck out more than my twin sisters and I had worn my hair down all through elementary and high school to hide them. One of the more memorable moments was when my best friends younger sister broke a Britain cracker in half and stuck them to the sides of her head and said "I'm Amanda!"

I was 20 years old when I got this done. I had taken out a loan specifically for this surgery and my aunt new of the surgeon so we went with him. My ears are to the sides of my head which is a good thing but I still have a stitch popping out in the back and it's been several years since. I had went back a year after surgery and the doctor had told me that he couldnt remove the stitch because it was the internal one that holds my ear in place. Every now and then it gets irritated and infected where the stitch exits my skin and I clean it with listerine until it goes away... just a little something I will have to learn to live with, I guess..
