Completely Ruined my Skin..

Long story short, i went in with normal skin and came out with cystic acne among other problems..

To be fair, i dont think the VI peel is a bad treatment, i think i was just under the supervision of a bad doctor. its been really rough for me, going through a period of depression bc of this but i want to share my experience with you so hopefully you wont make the same mistakes i did as well as to show you what the potential side effects can look like..

for a start my skin is pretty good, i was blessed with normal skin, small pores and growing up i rarely had acne. i went to this clinic bc it was the only one in singapore that offers this treatment and I wanted to treat myself with a little skin rejuvenation. when I met Dr Sylvia for the first time, she kept her consultation very short and didnt care to ask much abt my skins history even when i tried to explain to her some of my skins response to diff prods and treatments. she went straight to explaining the treatment itself and when i asked if she would consider vi peel the best treatment for me as compared to others, she was very reluctant and hesitant in her answers, saying things like

"well you can do treatment x but you can also do treatment y"

with no reasoning whatsoever even when I asked many questions and was v eager to find out the pros and cons, she would just give vague answers. looking back i felt like she wanted me to do the vi peel bc one of the more expensive treatments as compared to the other..

but i looked passed it bc seeing her credentials and reviews, I trusted her. so i went and did it and followed all their instructions religiously, using all the products she prescribed. immediately after the first one my skin was glowing and I was v happy but just a week later I started to notice that the pores under my eyes near my nose bridge and on my upper lip was becoming slightly enlarged..

so i made a follow up appt to see dr sylvia and heres where things start to go south. i waited at least 2 hrs at the clinic with diff staff coming in and out to talk to me saying things like "do you really need to see dr sylvia for this?" even when i alr hv made an appt!! the dr was so reluctant to see me and sent her staff to come talk me abt my concerns to substitute her and the staff even tried to convince me that i didnt need to see her..

anyway i insisted and when she finally saw me, she did that super quick consultation again v impersonal, and she kept denying whatever concern i was bringing up. and obviously i was v afraid of the side effects at this point and her response was "there are no side effects" even tho they make you sign this form with a long list of potential side effects before they treat you..

i continued on the regime and products dr slyvia gave me and i was stupid enough to do the peel again and right after that my skin was completely ruined. im talking cystic acne, orange peel textured pores, excess sebum production, blackheads, whiteheads, and a lot of congestion to name a few. worst of all.. the clinic just denied everything that happened, dr sylvia insisted that it was something I did to myself and not the fault of the clinic, no apology, nothing.. i cant tell you how hurt i was..

i know some of you are thinking that this could be part of the purge phase when you get peels, the clinic mentioned this too, and i was really hoping it would pass.. but it lasted 2 years, all those problems.. and all the doctors i saw during that time strongly advised me to go on Roaccutane.. this was also the period when i developed depression..

To date i still suffer from these side effects but i am getting better and i will post some before after pics of the side effects and how my skin has progressed since, as well as share with you in a follow up post how i overcame of the side effects without going on Roacctane.
