I had interviewed a total of 7 plastic surgeons for my facelift. I met with 2 in New York, one in Hilton Head, one in Charleston, and 3 in Florida. An acquaintance of mine suggested Dr. Durkin/Ocean Drive Plastic Surgery in Vero Beach, Florida. I had never heard of Vero Beach, and I had already met three surgeons in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. So on my way back home from Florida, I called his office. Predictably, he was booked out for two months. I explained to Christa that I was leaving in the next few days, and would not be back. After a brief hold, Dr. Durkin took my call personally, listened to what I was doing, and actually applauded me for doing my research!! He agreed to meet me the next day (late Friday afternoon) as I was flying out Saturday.
Within the first 10 minutes of the consult, I knew he was the right surgeon for me. He is obviously used to demanding clientele, as I am admittedly a high maintenance Southern Belle!! He listened to all of my concerns, showed me at least 15 facelifts of people in my age group (early 60's), and recommended a SMAS facelift with upper eyelid and lower eyelid surgery with fat transfer to my face, and Botox to my forehead.
I booked surgery, and flew home. Cindy, his coordinator, helped to coordinate my entire trip. Surgery was almost completely painless, and for the first time ever, I didn't vomit for 2 days after surgery. Dr. Chabriere was the anesthesiologist, and was so kind and gentle. I stayed in Vero for 6 days after surgery, and flew home without any sutures, or any bruising on my face. My neck had bruising for about 10 days, but Penny (Spa aesthetitican) made a custom mineral makeup for my neck!! Who does that??
I love my result!! I have never written a review before, and I am a VERY private person by nature, but I feel that I found Dr. Durkin by "accident", and that finding him was one of the best things that has happened to me in years, and I think the word should get out there. I do not think that anyone on earth would have done a better job on my face than him, and the experience that I had there reminded me of a Four Seasons Resort. My sister is going to see him next month, and I am going with her.
