Vbeam Burned Me Severily. Will It Ever Fade Away???

UPDATED FROM mats26
1 month post

6 weeks post-vbeam, no fading

$451
Its been 6 weeks since I had purpuric vbeam. I am stuck with these cigaret-like burns (there are more on the rest of my face btw) on my cheek
I keep praying that they will one day subside but I am kind of losing hope
Will update in a month see how it goes.
Can any doc offer any advise? The derm who did that to me wanted to 'do over' another vbeam on these particular spots without purpuric settings to clear my skin. I said no.

Why purpuric setting? Did you ask that?

No, I did not ask for it. The Derm said it would clear my lesions faster. I did not mention that it would CREATE new red dots where there was not in the first place... I went back to see him last week and He just shrugged and said,; its going to fade eventually and I can do an IPL if you want on these spots. I turned down the offer because at this point, I have zero trust in this guy and it doesn,t make a sense to burn or apply heat on a dermal burn. (He said it was not a burn but an onflammatory response to the vbeam) Geeez, the idea was to get rid of redness NOt to worsen it. Nearing 7 weeks post vbeams and the spost are absolutely not fading. I am soooo depressed and [RS bleep] off...

think you have too much time on your hands.
thanks for your support dude...I believe that you've got too much time on your hand as well since you take the time to blast a stranger on the web during holidays. It says a lot about who you are.
I saw a doc in Virginia who had burned herself trying new lasers. She developed a line of products to help with it and might be able to help you. Her name is Dima Ali.
thanks for the info, happy new year
Hi Matt, did these spots ever resolve for you? I had a similar experience. The purpuric settings bruise your skin which is what causes the purple spots. After they fade you can be left with post inflammatory erythema (redness) which I believe is what you are experiencing. It’s kinda like the red marks that are left over from acne. This is what my dermatologist explained to me.
Good morning Matt, Yes the spots did resolved but it took 8 freaking months... Better be careful with these lasers and avoid purpura. I felt that IPL was just as effective as pdl on most lesions. take care

23 days post

update 24 days post-procedure

The spots treated now look very murkish. Red-brown in color. I am pretty sure that I was burned as it is not normal after such a long time to still look that way. (24 days post-procedure)
Again, is there anything that can be done to remove these damages? I am sending this message to all the doctors out there. thanks

Thanks for the information. I had no idea this could happen.
Are you sure these are burns? They look like purpura (bruises) to me.
good morning. Almost 2 years past this vbeam. The marks were not purpura. I was told by another derm that this was inflammation caused by the laser itself: they took all in all 8 months to dissapear. That is a risk associated with any vascular laser but specifically with the vbeam because of the wavelength. I did nothing for 8 months but I was also told that another way to adress this problem was to re-use the vbeam or an ipl at a lower fluence (without causing any bruising) on the marks.
Did the spots blister or scab? Normally a burn would cause a break in the skin but it doesn’t look like that happened.
Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) can happen with the purpura (which would like like the brown/red colour you were describing) so maybe that’s what your derm meant by inflammation. PIH can take years to go away.
No scabs nor blisters. I did scabbed with ipl in the past and it did not cause any trouble after the scab fell off
It was not hyperpigmentation: the marks were red and not brownish. It wad an erythema caused by the laser. This happens rarely but it does sometimes however with purpuric settings
I had a mark similar to yours after a treatment with Excel V. I was told it was a burst blood vessel.
I have similar spots from the new aviclear laser. I’m thinking of doing microneedling or a bleaching cream. I am never doing lasers again. Not worth the risk!
ORIGINAL POST

Vbeam Burned Me Severily. Will It Ever Fade Away???

I had a Vbeam October 4 2019 with purpuric settings to treat my rosacea and some red spots.
3mm, 3ms, 12 Joules which I believe is a conservative setting
Looks like the cooling device had an issue during the procedure because the derm stopped for a while then proceded to 'burn' the rest of my face once he recalibrated the device. I marked the spots I wanted to have treated with a skin marker but that 'derm' elected to do more than less (even in places where there were no redness!!!)
It left me with dots all over my face that are burns...Once the purpura faded, I realised what it was: 2 degree burns...(I had several vbeam in the past and the redness subsided pretty quickly 7-10 days)
Its been now 18 days post vbeam and I don't know if my skin will ever return to its normal color. Its extremely stressful and I now look like a freak. The consequences are major psychologically and physically.
Can anyone here hep me ? What shoud I do? Dermopigmenation? Wait 1,2,3,4 months??? use some cream. Do some more lasers (would sound couterintuitive...)
I am very depressed...

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with this treatment and I hope you find support within the community.

I had Vbeam Oct. 7. I didn't get any of those spots. My guess is that it was turned up to high or he went over the area to many times. Maybe they have another laser to lessen those spots. I would definitely go in and make them fix it. Sorry this happened to you:(
that Dr is not even replying to my phone calls...but thanks anyway
Don't worry.V beam purpura lasts for around 1 month or so.In your case, it seems it has bruised quite deep.Go to another dermat to see if it's actually burns.V beam usually never causes burns. So get a second opinion. And even if it's a burn, it can be still be treated.Dont worry.you will heal .
thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely see another derm (hard to find a good one though here in Canada). I must admit that you are giving me hope this morning. This month has been an emotionnal rollercoaster.
May I ask you how long it took for your redness to fade away after your third vbeam? (you mentionned in your post that there were red circles left 2 months afterward?) thanks again.
From your pictures it seems, its not even second degree burns.Though consult a dermat and not a Plastic surgeon as they will again excerbate your problem.
Also, on the safer side, try Arnica ( a oral homeopathic medicine)which reduces bruising. And keep applying Aloe Vera gel on the burns. It will surely put your problem down.
I have indeed been doing that from the beginning. May I kindly ask you how long it took for your skin to get back to normal after your third vbeam please?
Hi Matt, did this ever resolve?
