Vaser Lipo upper and lower abdomen - 5 weeks post

WORTH IT
Just a small update, I was lucky and healed really well (lots of fresh chicken broth, and high protein food!) and was allowed to take my foam vest off much earlier than expected which was lovely. I still had to wear the compression garment a little but only a few hours a day now.
Still doing the massages (self) and some stretches as I have some lumps under my belly button (v. Normal) but I can feel them getting better which is great and other then when I bloat, my stomach looks great and so tiny I love it.

One thing I really recommend for pre procedure. Try on all those outfits that are a little too tight or show the rolls you are planning on getting lipoed and take pictures of yourself.
This is so when you have bad days after the op you can look back and be reminded of the difference. There have been days when the swelling or the discomfort made me feel like nothing was different, but then I would try on an old dress and I would see the difference in the fit and just wish I could have had a pic as well!
Swelling all gone now but there were those bad days and I think the above would help!

ORIGINAL POST

Vaser Lipo Upper and Lower Abdomen

I found this site really useful so thought I would also contribute. 6 days ago I had Vaser Lipo on my upper and lower abdomen in London. I am 37 years old, tall with skinny legs and have always had a tummy that I have had real trouble shifting despite being healthy and active, so earlier this year I decided that I needed a little help.
I highly recommend you consult with more than one dr as it is important to find one you are comfortable with, I felt a few were really pushy and I did not like that at all but found one who felt professional with good reviews and plenty of experience. The day of was pretty easy, got to the hospital and everyone was really nice, I was put under conscious sedation which is nothing to worry about, don’t remember a thing and was up and out within 4 hours which was great.
Day of: 6 insertion points on stomach, found I had 2 drains still in my lower abdomen which I was not expecting. There was a lot of leakage but that I had planned for. Recommend you buy washable bed pads from Amazon as they are comfortable and reassuring, also adult nappies, not to use for the loo but just so the leakage dries quicker and is more comfortable for the first few days.I also bought sanitary pads for when I needed to change my dressings and baby wet wipes just to feel cleaner.
Night 1 was pretty horrible and I slept in an arm chair and got about 2 hours sleep.
Day 1 post op to Day 3 were the worst, I was in pain, slept badly and had a few moments of massive regret, but they were short lived. I kept active and started my MLD massages day 1 which were great and v important (they do not hurt and are very light especially right after your op).
Day 4: I woke up feeling much better and positive but my drains were still causing a little grief, also sleeping is not easy but my MLD therapist gave me the go ahead to sleep on my side with all the compression kit on so that was great.I am now on day 5 and honestly feel ready to take on the world again, the hard times are a bad dream. I have my drains being taken out tomorrow which will make everything even more manageable and so far I am happy with the results (image is me before the op and then day 5 after)
Cons: foam vest, depends on your dr but I have to wear mine 24/7 for 3 weeks with the compression garment. This is not fun but has become more ok as the healing gets better. I bought 2 which I also recommend as it is not nice otherwise to sit in leak stained garments after your first shower on day 1.Also hard to hide it but I have come up with a few outfits that will work.
Drains: was told I wouldn’t have any before the op but came away with 2. Not sure if they don’t like saying you will have them to not put you off but be prepared you might get these even if they say you won’t!
I took 7 days off work and I am so glad I did. There is no way I would have wanted to go back before day 4 at the earliest.
Number 2: first one post op is not fun! Recommend eating bell/sweet peppers cooked in olive oil with some tomatoes. My MLD therapist recommended and it really helped the process! And drink lots of water.
Pro’s: although when in the middle of the worst part it feels like it will never end…recovery is actually pretty quick and I am so pleased with how I look so far. I just wanted to have a flat stomach and so far so good.
Had MLD everyday except at the weekend but tried to do a little myself, have 6 booked in total and then will see if more is needed.
Let me know if you have any questions but tried to cover everything I feel was important to know before but summary… for me it was worth it!

Hi you look great. Would you mind telling me the costs as this is exactly what I want. :))
Thank you!
The cost for the procedure (Vaser on x2 areas) and what else they provided was £5,144.
Broken down that is £4,100 for the actual procedure, £750 for sedation, £144 for x2 compression garments and £150 for a covid test.

On top of that I have bought x2 4d foam vest that cost £120 each, as well as the MLD sessions. In London these can cost up to, and over, £100 for 1 hr but luckily I got them out of London with a great therapist who cost £55 for 1 hr, it is recommend you get at least 6 of these but it depends on how you heal and I think I might need a little more possibly.

I also spent money on the extra useful stuff I mentioned in my original post.
So in total the cost so far is £5714 (not including the little extras). Hope that helps!
Hey could you share your surgeons name?
Hi, have sent a private message with details as although I recommend my Dr and v happy with results, I had a few issues with the clinic that it is worth being aware of in advance!
Hi great results when did you take the foam off ? I’m really struggling and only one week in !
The foam is really tough and boring but it does get easier, directly after the procedure I was instructed by my dr to wear it full time for 2 to 3 weeks, and then day time only for a further 3 weeks. I ended up being able to wear it less than this (2 weeks full time and then 2 1/2 weeks for only a few hours a day) but only due to the fact that I healed really quickly. I never really experienced any swelling and my skin regained a really good condition quickly with no wrinkling which the garments really help with (and I promise matters!)
I highly recommend to follow your dr’s orders as it will be based on your bodies condition and so to get the best results for you.
I remembered looking up so many reviews in the first few weeks to try and find an excuse/good reason to take mine off but it is so important to just keep going, you have come so far it is totally worth that little extra and when it is off it will all seem so long ago!

The only thing I can recommend is to maximise your healing, eat really clean, lots of lemon water, protein, MLD session, self massage, light exercise and wear the compression garments provided. If you are really struggling though do contact your dr as they will be able to tell you if normal.
Good luck!
Ha it's not just me looking for an excuse to take off then ;) ? thank you for your kind answer ..it's interesting there is a wide range of differing advice with the foam all surgeons seem to have different protocols .But yes struggling on with some breathers! did you have loose skin straight after the vaser? Just wondering how quickly it retracts altho it sounds like you were pretty good from the get go !
I was lucky and had no loose skin but my dr did say before the procedure that my skin had good elasticity so I think this helped, I was however really disconnected from my stomach for some time after and squeamish about touching it…it didn’t feel like my own! But fine now.
When allowed, I started using creams to help as well, like bio oil and coconut butter, but had to wait for the incisions to heal first.
