Vaser Lipo and J Plasma Renuvion 3 years post abdo 18m post legs
As requested, here is a pic of me last week in Ibiza still loving the results of my surgery with Grant Hamlet. Skin is still perfect and still loving the results. Every second of the downtime was worth it!!
Vaser Lipo with fat transfer with Dr Grant Hamlet
In June 2018, I had a consultation with Dr Hamlet for the potential treatment of Vaser liposuction. Dr Hamlet explained that I would need a degree of skin tightening as well because I have had two children. I’m a 5.6”, 29 year old nurse, with an active lifestyle. I weigh about 10 stone and wear an 8-10. Dr Hamlet had explained that he intended to do a procedure called Renuvion which is an internal skin tightening procedure, which compliments the vaser Lipo suction and assisting the recoil.
After much research, and consultations with many other Doctors and Surgeons, it was a decision I had made very easily. I had heard nothing but good things about Dr Hamlet, so I promptly liaised with The Hamlet Clinic’s patient liaison manager, Carla. Carla organised everything from post op garments, to pre op blood tests and hospital stay. The hospital where I had the procedure was the Highgate Private Hospital (2 nights) which was fabulous.
It was the day of my operation (28/05/19), and my taxi had picked me up at 08.00 to arrive at the hospital by 10.30. Upon arrival I was greeted by the warmest of staff who showed me to my room; they couldn’t have made me feel more welcome. I was only there for one hour before Dr Hamlet came round to mark me up and take photographs. I was then taken down to theatre where I was medicated by the most fabulous team. The anaesthetist was so professional and supportive. The operation took just over 4 hours, as I had:
Vaser/ Renuvion upper and lower abdomen
Vaser/ Renuvion upper and lower back
Vaser/ Renuvion Flanks
Renuvion in Bra roll
Fat transfer to hip dips
All in all I had 5.4L fat removed (I didn’t even know I had that much to give ????) and 400cc re-injected.
When I woke in the hospital room, honestly, I felt like I’d been hit by a bus. I had 3 drains, 2 IV’s and a a catheter. It was 23.43 and I didn’t know what planet I was on. I had some water and then proceeded to throw up all in my bed, but unable to move at all, my nurse Florence gave me a bed bath and made sure I was ok.
The padded compression garment they put on is so restrictive, and I honestly felt like I couldn’t open my lungs properly to breathe. The pain at this stage was 10/10. For the next 12 hours I was dosed on morphine and remained in bed.
The following day after sleeping for hours and hours, Dr Hamlet and Raddy, his colleague came to see me. Raddy is Dr Hamlets close colleague who provides patient care following their operations. Raddy got me out of the garment and started manual lymphatic drainage straight away which was excruciating. She also removed my drains which literally took my breath away. At this point I was a sobbing mess, regretting everything and thinking how much I took my non pained, flabby body for granted. Raddy said to me, “come on Lucy we’re going to get you up”, she walked me to the bathroom and showered me and I felt so much better. She was like an angel. I don’t know whether I was crying more because of the pain or how much I was grateful for her helping me. I really don’t know what I would have done without her that day. This was the first time I’d seen my new body and I was amazed, even though my entire ass was black. I couldn’t believe how much of a difference in just 24 hours. I no longer could pinch my flabby flanks! I was assisted back to the bed and remained in bed until I departed at 16.00, that drive home (Hampshire) was the longest drive - period.
Unable to bend, walk, anything, it was like being driven home taped to a Patslide. I got home and went straight to bed as the pain was just so intense, I feared moving, talking and my god, I feared sneezing. I woke in the morning to find my drain wounds had leaked all through my garment (which is full body over the shoulder down to ankle with foam padding around the back and stomach). Just getting in and out of those made me breathless. I looked like some kind of drug addict at this stage as I hadn’t washed my hair in 4 days, and during surgery someone had tied it up with a glove because I’d gone in with it down ????. I’d wondered how people had gone back to normal or life or even work at this stage because all I could think about was the pain and the inconvenience of this stupid suit. That being said, I went for a 30 minute shower and that felt amazing, the pain definitely eased once I’d got moving and stopped feeling sorry for myself. Of course it didn’t help that it was one of Bliteys hottest days and I was led out in the garden with this full length suit on like a bag of Uncle Ben’s boil in the bag. On the Tuesday (5 days post surgery) I went to see Raddy in Mayfair for a follow up appointment. I was still in 6/10 pain and the traffic was crap because of the Trump protestors. I was late for my appointment and once again Raddy consoled me in my weak and feeble state. She completed a session of MLD and also said I had 2 seromas which she needed to drain. One in my lower back and one in my lower abdomen. I sat on the edge of her bed whilst she aspirated the seroma out of my lower back and again all I could do was cry and think about how much I missed my non pained body. Raddy was so caring, she managed to really pick me up and reassure me that this was all going to be fine. I left her office and I felt so much happier. The pain definitely went down to a 4/10 after Raddy had massages and aspirated. I went back to work the following day which was difficult, especially as my uniform (scrubs) didn’t fit over the foam garment, and during the day I appeared to swell more and more. The feeling had not yet returned in my back and abdomen, it was still numb/pained. I had gone back to see Raddy for further sessions and each session got better. The pain is slowly reducing, I’m now 2 weeks post op, I have the feeling back in my upper back and abdomen but not in my lower. The pain is not really there anymore but I’m certainly still very stiff. My buttocks are still very very bruised and hot, but I’m told that’s normal. My thighs are still quite swollen, but underneath my foam garment, my abdomen and back don’t appear to be swollen. I’m allowed to bath again in a few days and I cannot wait. I can’t wait to be out this suit. But I’m no longer regretting my op. For the first time EVER, I can say my body looks amazing (minus the bruising and dressings????) my friends are so jealous, and I can’t wait to get wearing some new clothes. I’ve had quite a lot of cosmetic surgery before which has been fine, but I can honestly say the Hamlet Clinic staff (inc Raddy) and the hospital were just amazing, and so supportive. Nothing was missed and everything was methodically planned. Which is really helpful to a patient like me who normally is the one delivering care.
I’m so grateful for Raddy, any concerns I had she addressed straight away, and if she didn’t know she asked Dr Hamlet and got back to me straight away. Overall I’d definitely give 10/10! Here’s pics just before I went down and the ones Raddy took the next day after surgery.
