Consultation review: Shame on This Office for All Its Unprofessional Nonsense and Wasting my Time

Shame on This Office for All Its Unprofessional Nonsense and Wasting my Time

….I had such an awful and confusing experience with Dr. Mowlavi that I feel compelled to share. I was a prospective patient and had two virtual consultations with the doctor.
The first consultation went well. The doctor’s overconfidence was convincing. He told me he was the top of the field, healing would be a breeze, it would be a quick and easy one hour procedure he could do any day. From there I was told I would get a follow up from Claudia with pricing and booking. I was impressed... but that was the end of my good experience.
The next week I had heard nothing so I followed up. I was told they had lost my file/ surgery plan and I would need to re-do the consultation. (See screenshot from their text). This was concerning to me, but anyway I told them I had previously sent photos and to see if the doctor remembered from the photos. Later I got an estimate over the phone. I was fine with the price but I wanted it in writing, just to be safe. Over the next few weeks I inquired for it at least 4 times in writing- twice by text and twice by email to no avail. I’m still not sure why they would do this- either laziness or something to hide about pricing, but something definitely seemed off! Also, it included a skin tightening procedure the doctor had never explained or mentioned to me,
I made my decision to go with him and called about dates I was interested in. I was told he would likely be out of the country the dates I wanted but they would have Claudia call me about scheduling. Claudia did not call me, so days later I call back myself and she says she did not get the message (of course). I scheduled a second consultation to see if the dates he was available would give me enough time to recover before a trip. When I scheduled this consultation by phone they said I was not in their system, and I had to give them all my info again. I found this weird since I still had the text giving them all the same info before my first consultation. How do they keep losing everything?
During the second consultation, I told the doctor I thought he should know that I had had some problems with his office losing my info and not responding to questions after many requests. He was very ungracious after that. I was told they were very busy and that maybe I should take my business elsewhere if I wasn’t happy with them. I meant no disrespect to the doctor, but I thought it is important for him to know how it comes across to his patients. It is very concerning to book a surgery with people who are losing your info, disorganized, and not answering your basic questions. What a disappointing response to rudely dismiss patient concerns and to deny any need for improvement of haphazard staff practices…. talk about flying too close to the sun. I was also much less impressed with him technically the second consultation. He refused to explain a skin tightening procedure he recommended in my surgery plan and instead told me to search through his hundreds of Instagram posts for a video about it. And when I asked if he could give me a better idea of my expected results, such as inches lost or pointing out on a photo of me what would be gone, he said no he doesn’t do that but it would look good. He ended the call with “you better book this date as soon as possible, or it will probably book up."
At this point, it was three weeks before the date I wanted and I had stopped seeking other consultations, since I was so convinced by our first consult. So despite these problems with staff, I emailed the next day ready to book and I got no response. The next week, I then called in and was told by Claudia the doctor did not want to proceed with my surgery. Seriously? This has been absolutely ridiculous and after almost a month of his office losing my stuff, never getting back to me, not being available, and finally denying my booking, now I must find a new doctor 3 weeks before my intended surgery date. Again, I am very unhappy with this office for all this unprofessional nonsense and wasting my time. Good luck to any one seeking to be his patient. I do not recommend it based on the demeanor of the doctor and staff.

I too went in to see this "famous" doctor because of his IG account. Came in for a tummy tuck and lipo he insisted I take off my bra (just in case I need it) he ended up quoting me $29,000 for bbl, lipo, tt, thigh lift, and breast reconstruction. He also took one of his "colleagues " another doctor to come inside our room during my consultation and this doctor only does bbl. imagine the how awkward I felt
Wow! This sounds absolutely awful! How rude. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Thank you for sharing. I was considering him, but am glad that I could save myself the time and trouble, thanks to your post. You and I are both better off that we did not book anything with these irresponsible people.
Be so thankful you didn’t have surgery with him. He botched me horribly and ran with my money. He is the worst surgeon I’ve ever met.
How did he botch you?
