Best Decision of my Life & the Best Surgeon to Do It

I want to preface this by saying if you are considering surgery, make sure you go through a few months of psychotherapy to make sure you're mentally ready and doing it for the right reasons.

I was sick of feeling self conscious of my tummy but didn't want to lose my butt/hips, so I decided to get vaserlipo on my tummy, mid-back, jawline and arms. It cost £10.9k total and I did it with Dr Katerina Charakida in London under general anesthesia.

The recovery process is no joke - you can walk fine but you're extremely bruised and tender for 5-7 days. They say you'll 'leak' some lymphatic fluid but I think the better word is 'gush', it's quite scary how much comes out but the more it does, the less you'll bruise. The bruising took maybe 2-3 weeks to fully go down. I had 11 lymphatic massages which weren't just helpful but ESSENTIAL to ensure the the skin texture was smooth with no lumps. I wore my compression garment & ab board as much as possible (and still am 7 weeks later but I don't leave the house in it anymore). The scars are just small red patches that fade really easily and aren't anywhere obvious.

The positive mental effect it's had on me is crazy. I didn't even realise I did before, but now I don't hate myself every time I eat. It's taken a huge weight off me mentally, my stomach was something that I spent an insane amount of time stressing about. It look a long time for me to get out of the habit of sucking my stomach in - it was second nature to me for 10 years.

Let's talk expectations. The skin on my stomach isn't as tight as it was before, but I don't mind at all, the results are beautiful. I'm 26 so my skin retracted nicely even though I had 4 litres of fat removed. My arms are literally skinny when previously they used to hang, it's crazy. They were definitely the hardest to recover though and were sore the longest. If you go into this (or any) surgery paranoid and negative, you aren't going to like the results. Be realistic and positive. I wrote myself a little essay before I booked it, detailing why I wanted to get it and this really helped because the recovery process is an emotional journey - remember it's normal to panic and be like 'why did I do this to myself?!' - EVERYONE goes through this stage.

If you are in the UK, make sure you book with Dr Charakida. She is warm, honest, reassuring and has done the surgery over 4000 times - she is the best of the best.

Good luck on your journey!

How long between the before and after photo?
11 days
You look amazing! I'm only 2 days post op and look bigger than I was pre op due to all the swelling. Can't wait to start seeing results like yours.
Good luck!! & Congratulations❤️
Wow this is one of the best reviews I've read. Really gets you thinking. Thankyou
Hi, thanks for this. Really helpful. Did you get a second compression garment or one was enough?
