So after thinking about it for 2 years. I finally worked up the nerve to get this done.
Extensive research lead me to book a consultation with Dr. A. Dutta at the Harley Body Clinic. Dr. Dutta is character, very intelligent, funny but also very approachable and down to earth. He answered all my questions and those of my partner who accompanied me. He managed my expectations and made sure in plain terms that I knew what I was getting into.
The Day of the surgery, things were very busy at the Clinic. I showed up on-time and anxious, but in the end, waited 3 hours before the surgery started. I was not necessarily bothered by this as one needs to appreciate that they're performing delicate medical procedures on human beings, I'd rather them be careful and late than the opposite.
I had my procedure under local anaesthetic. I felt a strong sense of discomfort at times. Not so much pain, just a feeling of knowing a metal rod is poking around inside you can be a bit unnerving, i however, managed to stay calm and relaxed throughout. Dr. Dutta and the Nurse (can't remember her name but she was great!) both kept speaking to me, making sure I was fine. We even shared a few laughs as the procedure went on.
Overall the procedure took just under an hour and I was on my feet and sliding into my compression thingy in no time. I had a brief final consult with Dr. Dutta and I was on my way. My partner and I took a cab home and I started leaking, by the time I got home it looked as though I had wet myself.
I slept fine that night, I could feel the pain creeping up but it was bearable. The discomfort i felt wasn't enough to stop me from sleeping.
---
Day 1
I woke in the morning to a call from the Clinic, they were checking up on me, which I appreciated. All was well, no nausea, fever, etc. Interestingly I had not leaked at all since I got home. James from the clinic mentioned that its likely due to my body absorbing the liquid very quickly, which shows that I'm a fast healer, yay! :-)
The pain was bearable, only every really presenting when transitioning from standing to sitting or laying. Honestly, I've felt worse after a tough sparring session at the gym.
I didn't feel weak or restricted, in fact I cooked dinner and did a few minor chores around the house.
After 24 hours I took a shower and checked out my initial results. There's definitely a difference but there's also swelling, so I'll sit tight and wait for the healing to come.....
I'll keep you posted!

So I'm 2 weeks into recovery and I feel just fine. I stopped taking pain killers at Day 3 and went back to work on Day 6.
The last 2 weeks saw me swell up a bit, and indeed, there were some days where I questioned why I did this, but just after Day 10, the stitches fell out, and the swelling started to go down.
I've a had a few MLD massages which actually helped a lot, especially with some area that were more tender than others.
I went in for my 2 Week checkup with Dr. Dutta yesterday, and all was fine. My scars are healing nicely and there's virtually no pain in the area. He advised that I'm still not at my final result, so there's more healing to come, but right now, I'm quite happy with the progress.
I've secretly (as my partner would kill me if she found out) been doing 60 declined push-ups, 25 pull-ups & 100 squats every 2 days since Day 8 as I've been desperate to keep active. I've been mindful of my limits, not over doing it and I've not had any negative side effects from doing this.
Overall things have been good and my experience, with the surgery and recovery has been far better than I imagined it would be.
I'll update you all again at the 28 Days Mark...
Happy Healing...

All is well. I'm back at the gym full time and life has more or less returned to normal. (by the I mean, no more compression thingy)
Overall I feel good and it's subtle but my treated areas are still changing. I typically don't notice how much anymore until I do photo comparisons.
I'll try to do another update at the 3 month mark.
Happy healing... :-)
