Reading a lot of reviews before I got my first treatments with Fraxel laser really helped me so thought I'd contribute as well.
Had my 3rd treatment yesterday at the Vanity Lab in Vancouver, BEST place ever! Bob has been doing all my laser treatments/derm etc there for years. I finally decided get over my fears when I turned 48 and wanted to reduce the lines around my mouth and firm up my face. I was really freaked out about the pain and swelling/redness as for years was reading horror stories on internet. They were having a promo and I trusted Bob so I went for it. It was so worth it. The first time though I was not prepared for the very hot burning I felt like my face was on fire. A word of advice, take pain killers before you go (no nsaids but extra strength tylenol for sure and maybe a few glasses of wine lol)
And buy a professional post laser procedure face creme/balm not the aquafor, the OZ product helped speed up the healing and limited my peeling. I ran out of it on my 2nd fraxel and had to use the aquafor for a few days and it took a lot longer to stop peeling.
My face took 4-5hrs to stop burning. Have some good ice packs at home as this really helped me. I also used some lidocaine on my face just a little and it helped too.
Next day I was red, tight and more swollen but my husband said I didn't look like the monster I told him I would look like:) He said just looked like I have a bad sunburn.
Had it early on a Friday and was ok to go back to work on the Monday but I'd say it took a full week until the peeling was totally gone.
Had it twice since then and have noticed a big improvement in the firmness of my face. The only real wrinkles I have on my face are around my lips which I can't stand! The fraxel has made them much softer but I am going to have to get a CO2 laser treatment to get rid of them. Decided to this Dec 15th and will post pics when I get it done. I plan on having a fraxel restore every 6months afterwards to keep up the results.
So bottom line is: Be ready for some pain but it's over quick, take your tylenol beforehand, it will Burn for a few hours afterward, hotter then you've ever felt your face before.
But It's totally worth it!! r

I'm a little bit scare because of the bad reviews
