Ten Months After Implant Surgery

WORTH IT
As my review has received some comments lately, thought I'd post an update. It's been almost a year since my nipple grafting procedure and 10 months since I got my implants. I've gained back the weight I lost from chemo, but still wear a size 6 in most of my clothes, just fill them out better.

You look great! Very natural!
i'd be interested in knowing if the nipple reconstruction was done from skin grafted from another site. my ps is suggesting upper thigh. have you found any loss in the projection of the nipple? and was there fat grafting at the time of nipple reconstruction. i too am BC survivor had exchange surgery in May and schedule for nipple reconstruction and fat grafting in September. your insight would be helpful.'
I haven't had any fat grafting. I was fortunate to qualify for a nipple-sparing mastectomy so my right nipple was created from a graft from my left. I have not noticed any change in projection. My only issue is how the muscle lies over the implants. Certain movements or positions cause dimpling of the skin, which looks odd to me.

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery and congratulations on being a survivor.
thanks for your reply! :)
Fat grafting would help with the rippling/dimpling effect.
Wishing u all the best...me too I have breast ca and underwent a bilat mastectomy w expanders...radiation and chemo to come...u look beautiful...
Thank you! Best wishes to you as you continue your treatments.
Thank you!
Your Dr did an amazing reconstruction! It look so natural. I am going to my 3rd PS to try to get the results I'd like to see after having a bilateral mastectomy in Apr 2014. Wish I live closer to WA.
I wish everyone could go to Dr. Gabriel. He's the absolute best!
Did you have radiation? I didn't have to, which made my reconstruction much better.
I did not need radiation nor chemo.
I am debating on putting a pic on if myself and my measurements so as to get some input from the Drs.
I am really not satisfied with the results. And the alternative according to the last PS my next step is 800cc Hogh Profile implants?? It seems that is a drastic next step.
That does seem drastic. Mine are 410cc high profile. I wouldn't want them any bigger.

Amazing results! Your breast look absolutely natural, incredible surgeon!
You look wonderful and congrats on beating cancer
Thank you!
I am a BC survivor too. Iam going thru my reconstructio at the time. He did an excellent job! Do you mind asking you what type of nipple recontruction he did? Did he use your same Breast tissue to form the nipple or did he use tissue from another area of your body? Your Arellano was it tattooed or is that your own?
Congratulations on being a survivor! I hope you have great results too. Did you have radiation?

I had a double-mastectomy after chemo for breast...

I had a double-mastectomy after chemo for breast cancer. I was terrified of having surgery when I had my first consultation with Dr. Gabriel in May. He and his staff were very confident and reassuring. Since my surgery in June, I've come to look forward to my visits to Dr. Gabriel's office. Everyone is caring and attentive. I'm also very pleased with my results. My scars are minimal, the nipple-grafting procedure was simple and my implants are better than the originals! Although I never would have asked for a breast cancer diagnosis, I'm grateful to have met, and been under the care of, Dr. Gabriel.

Welcome to the community! I am thrilled for you that everything worked out. I feel for you having to go through the fear and the unknown but it's great to know that the end you are happy. Way to beat the cancer...congrats! Are you open to sharing photos with us?
Thank you, Eva. I've posted some pictures. I think women are so afraid of what they'll look like after a mastectomy. It doesn't have to be disfiguring with the right surgeon.
Hi, Glad you had such a great experience with Dr. Gabriel. May I ask what cc's you received? I am going back and forth between 2 sizes. Happy Health To You.
woops i just saw they are 410cc in the photo description.
I meant areola ! Was it tattooed? It looks very natural. Thanks and congratulations on the reconstructions! Looks very natural
I haven't had any tattoos. The right nipple was removed and a graft was taken from the left. It was done under anesthesia and healed very quickly.
Your Surgeon did an amazing job! You look beautiful and no one would ever guess what you've been through. I am a bc survivor too. Your implants look like they have a lot of projection, which gummy implants did you get? I got Natrelle/Allergan 410's 595CC, but my projection is nothing like yours. I know the FDA just approved extra projection and I wonder if that is what you have. I'm thinking or replacing mine. Thank you for sharing your story and pictures.
Congratulations, @happyspring13! Nice to hear from another survivor. Yes, my implants are high-profile. I'm in a study for them through Dr. Gabriel's office. They are Natrelle 410's like yours. Dr. Gabriel said these are good for thinner women who have had mastectomies. Hope this helps with your decision. After what we've been through, it helps to come out looking and feeling good.
I'm a BC survivor also, with a double mastectomy. One implant, one tram flap. I can't wait till its all done
