Just Fitted with Braces (Six Month Smiles) to Correct Anterior Crossbite

I was just fitted with braces to correct to correct my anterior cross bite. I've had them for a total of two days and am already sick of them :o). I was given composite bumpers on my two upper canine teeth, in order to prevent me from tearing off the brackets on my two upper front teeth.
I am cranky and hungry! Anyone have any idea how long it'll take for the two upper teeth to move forward? I miss chewing :o(.
