GREAT Experience with Dr. Michelle Jones Singer

I love Dr. Michelle Jones Singer! I had a vaginoplasty and a labiaplasty - currently 3 days post surgery. I was so worried - will sex hurt? Will it look the way I hoped it would? Would there be scar tissue? Dr. Singer reassured me every step of the way and she is so kind and comforting. My surgery started at 1:30pm and took about 2 1/2 hours.

I actually had a panic attack right as the procedure started (apparently the gas doesn’t calm me down but makes me hallucinate haha) and Dr. Singer and her assistants calmed me down and I was able to relax the whole rest of the surgery and apologize multiple times for feeling like an idiot! That night in the hotel I was in a LOT of pain.

I couldn’t get comfortable and cried a couple times but took my pain meds as prescribed and the next morning was still painful but better. I felt pain everywhere - from my labia to my butt, but now on day 3 it’s mostly just the vaginal opening. I’m still in pain and I’m still walking funny, still bleeding slightly I still have a pad on.

I can only get comfortable if I’m laying down and there’s no pressure whatsoever on my butt or vagina, which sucks because I’m a side sleeper (: I have zero regrets and I’m so excited to see everything settle and heal in the coming weeks. I’ll come back and keep you updated! Feel free to ask questions!

hi there, thank you for your reviews... can you tell me how many days did you end up taking the pain meds? Thank you :)

Hi! I really felt like I needed them at least the first week/week and a half. I was walking around but definitely waddling like a penguin because the labiaplasty was still so raw and new. You don’t realize even wearing a pad might be irritating but it rubs on your stitches.

thank you! I appreciate your response... can I ask, at what point did you transition from prescription (percocet ect) to tylenol/advil?

I'm breastfeeding so trying to figure out how much milk I need to pump ahead of time so I can pump and dump while on the heavy meds.

After I felt like I didn’t need the hydrocodone anymore it was sort of “as needed”. You’ll have days where you feel better than others. I also made sure I was taking vitamin C, a B complex, and zinc to help my body heal - as well as put Neosporin on all my stitched areas for the first two weeks to help with bacteria and scarring.

10 Weeks Post Surg Update

RealSelfGirl32
Hello everyone. I just wanted to pop on here and give you an update. 10 weeks post vaginoplasty/labiaplasty and everything is healing really well, I think. There are still some small lines where my stitches were at the top of my labias but I expect they will disappear completely at some point but they’re hardly noticeable (and a LOT better than where I started regardless). The bottom of my vagina is healed from the vaginoplasty and looks really great.
We’ve had sex 3 times now, starting at 8 weeks post surgery. The first time I could hardly stand the pain and about punched my husband *sorry hubs*. The second time still hurt really bad. We had sex last night and it was painful still but MUCH better. I still felt twinges of pain and soreness but it’s only because my scar tissue on the outside is very tight, brand new skin and needs to be stretched. BUT - my husband is VERY happy and even though I was sore, I was still able to feel how tight I am now and enjoy it. I’m sure it will get better with him! My advice is just to take it very slow at first and be patient with yourself!
I’m posting a photo as of now - 10 weeks post. After we have sex I can tell my labia gets a little swollen again still just from being jostled but then it calms back down. Dr. Singer told me it takes about 4 months to for everything to completely “settle”. All in all I’m happy and I feel like it was very worth it! Let me know if you have any questions (:

Does the inside canal feel tighter as well? Many say that the opening is tighter, but the inside feels the same as it did before the surgery?
November 26, 2021
Hello! To me, the inside ABSOLUTELY feels tighter. It feels nothing like it did before surgery. I think sometimes people expect your vagina to never have an “give” or elasticity to it after a surgery like this but its still a muscle that stretches after something has been in there for a bit, ie having sex. As soon as we start to have sex the next time it’s right back to feeling very very tight. It only “loosens” up slightly during sex but not much and still definitely not like before surgery.

Thank you for responding so quickly! I am hoping to have a consultation soon. That gives me a piece of mind knowing that it should tighten up after the surgery.

Think of it this way - she is literally >removing< extra tissue in there so there’s no way you won’t actually be tighter! Some women naturally just have a hard time with sensations and nerves in their vaginal canal - the same way not every woman can orgasm vaginally. I think some of the women who say it feels the same as before may just be noticing that their vagina didn’t magically grow more nerve endings just because they’re now tighter. I know not everyone is happy with the surgery, but it’s still important to have realistic expectations from the vagina you already know! <3

Thank you for being as detailed as possible!! From the sound of it, I think it will be greatly beneficial!! I still have sensation - we just have to be careful what positions we do. It is like a foreign body part right now after three kids. It kills me when my gynecologist says, oh yeah it's normal to look like that after kids. I get that... but us women should not have to live like this. So thankful for this doctor. I believe she's going to be a God send!!

I’d say I’m completely healed at this point and feel so much better about myself. My vagina used to look gaping open and my labia were long and saggy ???? I’m incredibly thankful to Dr. Singer. She’s so compassionate and sweet!
