Dr. Goodman is Very Nice However Not Sure the Procedure is

About 10 weeks post Vaginoplasty & perinioplasty done by Dr. Goodman. Dr. Goodman has a very nice way to treat his patients & explains everything extra well. Even the staff is very good.
Vaginoplasty being done without general anesthesia is also good & has great value in knowing how tight or which muscle is being pulled or joined.
However the results in my case are a 'nothing'. I had expected a drastic change by going through Vaginoplasty vs a laser rejuvenation, but really I am still loose. I am told that my muscle tone is poor & needs working upon with Pelvic PT (I am 42 years old and have had 2 kids vaginally). The PT told me she cannot guarantee great results or tightness but can say that leaks may stop. :(
Even though I like Dr. Goodman a lot & his staff I am not happy with my results which could really be me & my muscle tone. I am normal built, do yoga & exercise & now Pelvic PT every other week along with using Apex for strengthening the pelvic floor. But seems like pelvic floor strength may NOT be associated with tightness which is why I had gone through the procedure.
Procedure is NOT pain free. It was a very hard 2 weeks...the pain killer induced constipation & the hemorrhoids that came along with it made me cry. I was miserable but fought through it, with no results to show.
DR. Goodman said he will see me in 3 months again after me having done enough PT & then re evaluate which I am looking forward to & trying to be hopeful of. Im not the one to give up & can post a update in a few months. Take care all.

Hello "Glitterbaby..." Thank you for taking the time to comment. I am glad that you found our services kind, attentive and professional, but saddened that at this juncture your tightening is less than expected. As you are aware, we give our patients who have poor muscle strength and tone, free of charge, one of 2 pelvic floor exerciser machines (depending on their strength to begin with), and also recommend to those patients not "in touch" with their vaginal floor ("Kegels") muscles or with weak muscles, a course of pelvic floor physical therapy to aid them in an ongoing pelvic floor exercise regimen. If you received an APEX-M device, and we arranged for pelvic floor P.T., I suspect it was because your musculature was very weak. We strongly believe in muscle strengthening, as vaginal reconstruction alone will never fully tighten a lax vagina. While I can and do bring the muscles together and rebuild the perineum, unfortunately I cannot magically either strengthen your muscles or do the daily muscle strengthening work necessary for a good outcome. Without understanding the correct way to perform any exercise, and without daily practice of this work, vaginal reconstruction results will be suboptimal.

Also, a vaginal reconstructive surgeon can only work with what (s)he is provided, and when the muscles are weak, results are never optimal, which is why, if your insurance does not pay for pelvic floor P.T., we pick up the cost for your first 2 sessions.

Stay with it! Your work will pay dividends. I find that those patients whose levator muscle strength is above 2.5- 3/5 always do better re: tightening than those who have weaker strength. Do you know what your tone was? I suggest working closely with your P.T to improve strength & tone, but in order to do do it is imperative that you do the exercises recommended at least daily, and use your APEX twice daily (as recommended by our office at your 6 week post-op visit) for at least 3 months, thereafter going to at least daily. You will find your tightness improving with the improvement of your muscle strength. Surgical reconstruction only works with concomitant improvement in muscle tone, unless you had good tone to begin with.

Keep us posted. You are a valued client, and we all wish you the best success...
