3 weeks after PDO threadlift
$1,500
Well, I'm glad to tell you the painful thread poking my cheek every time I smile even a tiny bit is finally subsiding after 3 .... long weeks. I've been able to give a small smile now, showing a little teeth, though definitely not a full on smile.
The hematoma, however is still there, though it has shrunken in size (only slightly raised lump over cheek), it is still painful when I press down on it. I'm hoping this will not turn into scar tissue and that my body can clear it up completely.
My lower face is slightly lifted (more v shaped). I still don't really think this was worth it for the amount of result, and complications.
I will be providing another update in a week or a few weeks to give a full report.

V-Loc PDO Thread Lift
10 days ago I got a PDO thread lift done. They have tiny barbs on them. 4 Threads each cheek to lift the lower face. Little did I know what complications would arise.
Each cheek done separately. Doctor first injected local anesthesia in a spot on my cheek near my ear, where he would then proceed to inject the PDO threads (4 lines in each cheek). The anesthesia injection hurt. The PDO threads being put in felt very odd, like tugging, sore, and sewing your cheek inside. He then cut the threads, put ointment on, and a tiny hydrocolloid clear bandaid on the wound.
The first night was tough, there was swelling, and pain. I did not take any pain meds. Couldn't sleep. Next few days , each day would improve a little bit. As swelling went down, I began to realize that one side of my face was more swollen than the other, and there was a huge indent in my cheek that made it looks like I was smiling, but I wasn't. The other cheek was completely fine. Btw, very limited mouth opening capacity.
Went back to the dr. and he massaged the thread to help loosen up the dent, and also told me there was hematoma (collected blood) under that cheek, and gave me antibiotics. He said this will go away in a few weeks.
Now, when I smile even the slightest bit, I feel a painful thread poking into my cheek on the problem side. Seems that the thread had moved down. The dent is better. The hematoma area still hurts near the insertion site. I first iced and now I'm doing heat compresses. What really bothers me is that I can't even smile, or else the painful thread will keep poking my inner cheek. I now have a bruise from the poking. I have two weddings to attend next week, and so far I am really regretting this decision. It is causing a lot of pain and worrying, and what's the use if I can't even open my mouth to smile without the painful thread poking me. I have to wait 6 months for this to dissolve. I pray that it will improve within a week and that this thread will not keep poking me and continuously bruising me. Please understand the risks. I did not know before I had this procedure. There are risks to have nerve damage, hematoma (blood vessels burst, infection, thread being uneven. You are inserting sutures into your face, and there are many blood vessels and nerves in the layers of your face. If anything goes wrong the thread takes 6-9 months to dissolve. When it is in, it is in. I already consulted 3 different drs, and unfortunately you cannot have them taken out, unless one eventually pokes out of your skin and you get a procedure to pull it out.
I feel it did lift up my lower face, however, but these complications are really making me rethink my decision, as it is causing me much unhappiness, pain.

thanks for the info. Its tragic when it doesn't turn out the way you expected. I feel for you. On a brighter note, they will slowly be ejected . Takes time .
You can add heat to your cheek eg warm cup of tea on the area and that will help dissolve the thread ....
But what ive been doing with similar points of threads is called trigger pointing which i learnt while massaging ..and that is ..gently put pressure on that point which your finger ... to 7 out of 10 on your pain threshold .. hold it for 15 seconds release ... do this a few times ..and throughout the day when you feel the need ...dont panic ... ! Grin and im happy to share what im finding that helps me .. cheers cathy
Thank you very much for your advice.
Happy to help ..your only 2 weeks in and it does change ...remember its 4 to 6 weeks ...for an outcome ... be gentle on yourself ...and the drs ! I know its hard to Not to keep looking ...but try and not look so hard ... it gets better daily as we heal ..pls feel free to ask away ...and go enjoy yourself at that wedding !! Cheers from cathy in australia .. ps look at my pics if youd like
Hi are you talking from personal experience ? I had pdo threads Done a month Ago and My face is uneven lumpy and i have a dent My surgeon keeps telling me to Wait
from my experience ..your surgeon is correct ... i understand what you mean ..and youll find as the threads tighten and the collegen starts producing .. youll see lumps change in places .. id say it took 6 to 8 weeks to settle ...but at the same time they are doing their job ... ..dont forget its the irritation of the threads that create collegen that makes the face tighten ...
the good thing i found with the lumpy bits is .... we see them ..no one else noticed .. and as they are along cheek bone direct etc ... i would just do some gentle shading when i put make up on .. and ..gone ! grin
it really does get better ... try to to look in the mirror so often ... i know this is hard though ... im happy to answer any concerns ... i do love my threads .. and infact went and had a few more popped in as things settled to lift an area on my neck a bit more !! enjoy !!
ps ...ill shout myself threads regularly from now on !!
