So... I've been struggling with the looks of my boobs as they heal. I had a free nipple graft and although I knew all the risks and did not wish to proceed due to some, my breasts were so large, I didn't have a choice. The bulbs have been removed from the nipple and initially, they looked amazing! However, the scabs have all come off and it looks like a disgusting mess! Almost like a bad knee scrape. I was so depressed when it first began to peel. PS says they are on track and the color will return as they heal. He is offering tattooing for any pieces that don't turn. He says I'm healing fast and won't need a revision but who knows! Worst part for me right now is that the nipple is smashed down and may not rise much if at all. PS says she can add to it to give it the raised effect but I don't know if a fake nipple will stress me out more than a tiny nipple... I don't think there will be much feeling either. Sad stuff! I'll probably upload photos when they look less scary.

Aside from that, the size looks pretty decent. I still don't know a cup size since my PS refuses to measure me until January. My back feels amazing, my shirts fit and look better and I can finally wear lingerie that'll look pleasing without wearing a bra under it!

...and before I forget, the nerves are reawakening and adjusting and it's like mini jolts of electricity through the nipples and freezing sensations that hurt like hell. Any tips for that?!

The important thing is that you feel better! FNGs can do some weird stuff as they heal. You are still in the early part of the healing process so try to be patient! There's not a whole lot you can do for those zaps and zings, it's normal but yes can be very uncomfortable and happen at random inconvenient times! They can continue for quite a while too although at least for me they have gotten milder now (I am 15 weeks post surgery now) and less frequent.

Hey! Thanks for this. Definitely made me feel a little better. I am trying to stay positive and follow as many tips to be comfortable and improve my chance of reducing scars. I'm happy yours have gotten milder over time. Hoping for the same!

It WILL get better. Just remember how much tissue, nerves, tiny blood vessels have been cut through and sewn back together in a new arrangement! On the one hand, it's not considered a"major"

Oops didn't mean to hit the post button! It's not a "major" surgery because it's not involving your internal organs etc. But still takes time for all to heal back together! And of course different people heal at different rates. So just try to be patient, do what you can without overdoing it, take really good care of yourself to promote good healing! Get lots of rest and eat healthy!

Oh and as far as reducing scars, definitely follow doctor's advice! My doctor had me keep tape over all my incisions for 3 months! But I have not seen anyone else on here who kept it on that long. So since I had tape on I didn't even apply lotion or anything. Now I doing gentle massage with Shea butter lotion, or I have a couple oils I use. But waited til after 3 month follow up. My doctor said she thought scar treatment would be a waste of money for me. But I have very thin very pale skin. That scars turn pale over time by themselves. So of course everyone is different. So hopefully your doctor can help you determine what is best for your skin type and the way you scar.

I had my procedure completed by Dr. Browne of Carle Foundation Hospital. The procedure took almost 5 hours but it was exactly what was estimated. I never got nervous but I worried about the Girls being too small. I woke up with a sore throat and some minor scars on my neck wherethe tube was. I was bandaged and sent on my way with a prescription for pain meds and follow up appointment. Very difficult to sleep the first night but last night was better. Comfy pillows are a must! What else do you guys recommend?! The pain meds are making things tolerable but things could be better .
I went today for the first unwrap and almost cried... they looked too small but in actually, they arent..im pleased! Hoping they will be more photo ready for next week.

I met with my Doctor yesterday and I couldn't have had a more positive experience! The doctor believes insurance will be willing to cover the full costs of the procedure due to the disproportion between my breast and body size. I'm praying to hear from insurance sooner than later and hopeful that the procedure will take place before the year ends. We shall see!
