Update: Yesterday (09-11-12) in Pearl River, NY at Dr. Micheal Fiorillo Advanced Plastic Surgery Center I finally had my breast augmentation surgery. Slightly over 4 1/2 months later, things fell into place and the time was right. Dr. Fiorillo is a double board certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in breast augmentation surgery. His staff is simply amazing. In looking back to my first surgical date scheduled for 04-24-12, I was so devastated that the date had to be canceled (thank god for spell check:) for reasons beyond my control at that time. It was a blessing in disguise. My original plan was to use Mentor round high profile 450cc implants under the muscle. Just last week on my second pre-op since the cancellation, the head surgical nurse Vicky had "very good news" for me. All smiles she had explained that Dr. Fiorillo now has the newly FDA approved Sientra Textured Shaped Oval Gel implants that he will be using. Looking at these in my pre-op I was truly amazed! The higher profile allowed for me to have more of a projection (5.8cm) and since my BWD is in the 14cm range Dr. Fiorillo had both Sientra textured and shaped HP 480cc 13.8 BWD 5.7 projection and the Sientra HP 550cc 14.4 BWD and 5.8 projection. He laughed when I told him in the OR ... Go big or go home!
He used the larger 550cc. Sorry if I'm running over my words, I'm still a little groggy having just woke up. Girls if you are planning to have BA, look into the Sientra line of implants. One implant that is really exciting is the tear drop gentle slope textured shaped gel with a BWD at 12.5 and has a round base and 450cc.
Being an athlete and low in body fat I had major concerns about going under the muscle seeing the implant distort due to muscle contraction was a huge concern for me. The only choice was to go over the muscle, I know now I made the right choice. Before surgery I took some measurements:
-Band Width of 35 inches.
Across the nipple measurement before ... 37" yikes! small A
One day post-op across the nipple is now 40 1/2 inches.
Upper pole before was 36" and now 39 1/2"
I was told that since I went with "overs' it will take less time for the girls to drop into place, about 2 weeks.
One more thing, I get pretty bad nausea from anesthesia and the other meds we have to take, I bought a pair of "Seabands" and placed both on my wrists as soon as I woke up in the recovery room and felt fine on the drive home and all day and had no ill feelings and never got sick. For 10 dollars they really do work!

A change of heart ... My breast augmentation surgery is set for April 24 2012. I was asked to share my story and since I'm not much of a blog person, I was uncomfortable sharing my experiences. Now, I think that's not fair, there are women out there right now in the same position. This can be a scary process leading up to surgery. I am a competitive athlete, tall and thin with very little breast. (I never saw a marathon runner with D cups:) Like most small breasted women, I always wanted to look and feel more complete. Surgery always seemed so expensive in the past and never had the money. I'm a transplanted Jersey girl now living in Upstate NY last month for some reason I once again decided to look into breast implants again. I was shocked to see prices in the $7000 range. In New Jersey 10 years ago that price was doubled! I needed to find out more, I would read and read and study before and after pictures of women who have had breast augmentation. I would hear my husband say "Are you still looking at boobs!" I thought I needed to have at least 4 consultations with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. The last surgeon I met with a few days ago, is the one. The first consultation I was charged a fee of $100 and was not happy with his "cold shoulder" personality. I fully believe you don't need to pay for your consultation to find your surgeon. The last 3 consultations were free, surgeon # 4 is the choice I made. This Friday I have my pre-op appointment with my Dr. and I will update than.
