I am currently awaiting a lower body lift and arm lift following major weight loss. My surgery is scheduled for 1/24/17, and I've been told it's an 8 to 10 hour procedure. I'm looking forward to seeing the culmination of all my efforts to revamp my life in terms of diet and exercise...my swan moment awaits.

I lost the same amount of weight as you. I am soooo happy that I got an arm lift, back lift and TT. I was more top heavy than bottom heavy. You will be thrilled with your new body after surgery too!

I went from 220 to 150. I am going for my LBL in April down to Texas, I live in NYS. Will be scheduling a second surgery for an arm lift and spiral thigh leg lift as well. Who are you using and how did you lose the weight. I did mine through diet and exercise. Kept it off for 5 years now. Long awaited surgery for sure.

Dr. Rubin at UPMC in Pittsburgh will be doing my surgery. My thigh lift and one other elective procedure will follow in March/April after recovery. The two biggest factors in my weight loss were giving up non-diet soda & discovering that I love running, weightlifting, and step aerobics. I'm definitely not a "perfect" eater, but I've learned the art of moderation! Good luck with your surgery!

Yeah lots of diet and exercise. I also have PCOS which made my weight loss all that more harder. Took me year and half to get it off. I am also almost 40 with two teenage kids. Kids also reek havoc on our bodies. Good luck with your surgery as well.

Two Weeks Pre-Op

Pre-op blood work is completed, and my final pre-op appointment is Wednesday. I'm looking forward to discussing my recovery outlook with my surgeon for several reasons. One of which is that I'm concerned about being able to return to my desk job in a timely fashion, the other is that I'm concerned about the muscle deterioration I know will occur once I'm forced to stop weightlifting during the recovery phase. Ready to make this change, but I would be lying to say that I wasn't nervous.

I have to return to work quickly as well and I also work a desk job. Curious to know what your doc says. I asked one doc and he said sitting is actually worse after LBL. We have a standup desk contraption at work though so that would be an option to consider. I think you will lose some muscle but you will also have muscle memory and bounce back quickly. I see some people returning to exercising as early as 4 weeks. 6-8 seems to be the normal. Really depends on how you heal. People pushing themselves too early seem to be prone to developing a seroma. This is what i have read after researching a LBL for quite some time now. They are not very common but seem to happen to people like us that exercised regularly and lost weight through diet and exercise and not gastric surgery. You will get back to it, just give yourself time to heal. I am scheduled for my LBL in April.

Six Week Delay

Unfortunately PCP wasn't able to provide a clearance for surgery due to the fact that my blood tests indicated low vitamin D levels (5) and low thyroid levels (.02 TSH). I was prescribed a D supplement (50,000 unit) and my Synthroid dosage was adjusted (112 mcg). After 6 weeks I will repeat the blood tests, and if all is normal I will receive my clearance. Cheers to being an ugly duckling for another two months...everything happens for a reason.

Sorry that you are unable to have your surgery at this time. I am a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason. When one door closes another one opens. Hope it all gets resolved soon!

Thanks for the happy thoughts! I was initially incredibly upset, but what's six weeks in the grand scheme of things, right? :-)

I don't blame you for being upset. Ive been waiting for quite some time myself, first it was doing the research and then saving up the money. Then I found out that it was going to be more affordable than I had originally thought and realized I could have had it done last year! I was so mad! Cause now I have to wait till after tax season, as I am accountant that works for a public accounting firm. I am now scheduled for the week after tax season is over which seems forever! Esp when you've been waiting this long. I lost the weight 5 years ago through diet and exercise and i never really knew that there was this type of procedure till early last year. Just like you I weight lift , eat very clean high protein diet and have low body fat. Just pure skin left. Barely any fat. I know what it feels like to wanting it just gone! Its a terrible reminder of who we used to be. I think about it every day. One good thing is that we work out and lift and cause of this we will have a great result. This was told to me by my PS. I know I have a six pack just waiting to make its appearance. As I am sure you do as well. Six weeks will fly by, get healthy so you can heal well.
