Santo Domingo.- Charilín Cedeño, 23, died Thursday during cosmetic surgery at Contreras Clinic, owned by Edgar Contreras, whose notorious practice has been blamed for the deaths of several patients.
Cedeño arrived Tuesday with a friend from the US for a liposuction but died at the clinic located in the Arroyo Hondo sector of the National District. Relatives say she died of cardiac arrest resulting from medical malpractice.
Previous deaths
At least three women charged Contreras of malpractice at the National District Office of the Prosecutor in May last year but was released on bail. In June that year the Public Health Ministry temporarily closed the clinic for violating the Health Law and its regulations.

I believe it was. By what I heard while I was down at the Or before they kick me out.
BUT LADIES , THIS INST THE FIRST THAT contreras has been under the spectrum for a death!!! Do some research ladies. His history is getting longer and longer. And whats more is this. . . even if he wasnt the one doing the procedure when the girl died. . he i feel is soul responsible. She went to him for surgery. .so if he felt it ok or necessary to allow someone else to operate on this young lADY. . THEN i deem him at fault. When u go in to pay and get marked up. . you not paying ot agreeing to have multiple ppl working on you. No. .you go in with the thought that just that Dr will b preforming ur procedure. So, he is at fault!!! It ishis [RS bleep] fault. . .this man is becoming Notorious!!!! TGhis has me so freaking angry. . how they can entrust our lives in the hands of [RS bleep] student or other who want to b grandfathered in to plastic surgery for the sake of it being a booming bizniz out there. what about this girls family????? wtf!! Im pissed and can go on AND on.

Horrible News a new girl Died at Contreras
Something real bad happened @ Contreras. 23 April 2015
So around 2pm they finally got me dress and ready for the OR. Once I arrived at the OR they placed me in a small waiting room right outside the OR, the anesthesiologist open the door and said I be back in 2 minutes. Next thing you know a nurse flew in and grab some pads and ran out than she rush back in and another nurse was behind her and you can hear the commotion out side than a 3rd time but this time it was a nurse out of the OR or a doctor because they had scrubs gloves hats I mean they came from the OR, few minutes it was a long silent than all kinds of noise people screaming they need it some medications, another one in the phone calling all kinds of people and out the blue I heard a lady just crying I mean crying like something horrible just happened than another lady in the background trying to calm her down and telling her to breathe than the same lady started praying louder and louder, than someone else told them to get her out of there and put her somewhere to calm her down and to give her something before people hear her. Than more commotion when on and some lady said ask who was in the OR and the nurse answer Dr. Contreras than some other lady came and said she had things under control. Next thing you know the same lady that was dressed in scrubs and came out of the OR came and put both of her hands in front of me she didn't say a word just gave me a brief small, I guess she thought I didn't speak Spanish so she help me up to the elevator. No one stop to tell me what's going on but before I left the OR one of the nurses keep saying we have to get her out, and we have to bring her out true this way. By the time I made it to the elevator the entire staff was gone and inside the OR. No one told me anything no explanation nothing so I got dressed and went to the front desk to ask for a refund when I requested to speak with his secretary they told me she was down at the OR as well. Than a lady came in the guard rush to help her park her truck and she ran I side to the OR as well.
I really think the lady that was having surgery die, by the conversation and the things I heard it was no way in hell that was just a complication. Everyone was running around and after everything happened it was to much cleaning going on.
I really pray that am wrong and that the lady is ok. But I will go see Dr. CONTRERAS Monday and am going to demand for him to tell me what happened today.

I can tell you by what I head in the Or That it was not Dr. CONTRERAS IT WAS a girl that mess u. The girl was young I could tell by her voice and she was crying historical and someone was telling her to calm down and they started praying for the girl soul that's when I knewThe girl was Gone. A lot of people here saying he don't do all his surgery that he has students doing surgery and even during the commotion a nurse asked what doctor walk in they told her Contreras. My point is if the girl they nearly drag out of there was a nurse or assistant why she was crying and asking for forgiveness plus they told a nurse to get her out of there before people heard her screaming. Contrera work is great but bow can you guarantee his the one doing it.

That's good!! Someone needs to speak up about Contreras not performing the surgery. That poor girls family is devastated I'm sure.

That's exactly what I did. I went back the next day and they had my money ready. I know they wanted me out of there before I told everyone what really happened in there. I just feel bad for the girl Cause they told the other patients she was on drug's.

@dream BodyDiva. If that was the case, wouldn't they have detected tht in her bloodwork? Have u thought about contacting the authorities, the embassy or someone since u heard the situation first hand?
@Allowmetoreintroducemyself i so agree wit u....that mesns they charge u 2 fo blood work and reslly font fo it, or check it or they saw it and said lets continue wit surgery

This is very messed up. The more I read the more I feel angry and hurt and I am not even a party to this. Why would someone be willing to lose their clinic and livelihood and reputation for someone else's error that caused a death? I have no doubt that DREAM BODYDIVA saw what she said but something isn't right. Who was that female performing the surgery? What did she do wrong? Under anethesia we have no idea who is operating but I would like to think that whoever it is would be a certified surgeon. Usually Drs like Contreras are consultants and they have a breast specialist, a lipo specialist, etc. They only come in as needed or in the case of a complicated procedure. At least that's how it's done in most of the C'bean. So if you're having multiple procedures sometimes multiple drs work on patients during the same time. Sometimes students do procedures but if so they are introduced and permission has to be given by patients. I hope the truth is told for her family's sake. DREAM BODYDIVA please be careful what you say and to whom but if you feel that you need to go to the authorities do so without fear. I will have realself on lock tomorrow looking out for your update; checking hourly. Please let your surgery buddy know she's in our thoughts and that we wish her a quick recovery.
