I am 27 years old with a two-year-old daughter and I was wondering if I'm going to be able to take care of her after the surgery I am getting a breast reduction, I am a I 38 at the moment and will not know what I'll be after surgery, does it take a week to be able to move around and be able to do the things I need to for her?

You definitely need to get help with child care for the first week or two weeks minimum. You need an adult present with you for the first 24 hours after surgery. Depending how much pain you are in, if you are taking narcotics you cannot drive. You will need transportation home from surgery and at least to your first post op appointment. Once you're off narcotics it gets easier but you won't be able to lift your two year old for a while- maybe a month? It's important not to overdo and follow doctor's instructions so you heal properly without complications! That said, I had mine 8 1/2 weeks ago and it's the best thing I've ever done. I totally recommend it, just make sure you're truly prepared for the recovery period.

If your husband works Monday through Thursday maybe you can do what I did and have surgery on Friday- my husband had just started a new job and couldn't take time off but I had a friend take me to surgery and then my husband was home when I got there and took care of me over the weekend. Just make sure you have food pre prepped or easy stuff you can grab. If your daughter is an easy kid then you might be ok but read up all the info you can on here so you are as prepared as possible! That will make it go much smoother!

Just try to get as much stuff done before hand as you possibly can. Clean your house, do ALL your laundry, do EXTRA shopping so you don't run out of things. I didn't drive until a week after my surgery. I was already off the pain meds but I was worried about pain and being safe (not having fast enough reactions, etc). Other than that, it's normal to be nervous! But complications are actually pretty unusual. The main thing is you are able to take it really easy the first week or so, and no lifting!!Tell your little girl she can climb up on the couch with mommy and snuggle but mommy has to rest! :-)

PS you can read my review. I had my surgery August 4th. Feel free to ask if you have any questions!

I definitely think you need to have someone there with you - especially with a two year old. Your breast are going to be very tender/sore and you are not supposed to be lifting anything for a couple of weeks. You're young and you will probably heal quickly but you will still need help in the interim. Preparing meals ahead of time is a step in the right direction, but it's not enough in my opinion - not with the demands and needs of a two year old. Please make sure you have help so you don't risk complications. I wish you a lot of luck. I'm sure you'll have a beautiful outcome. :)
