19 August 2012 - 38 Days PO
Hello again...sorry for no updates - I've been moving house which resulted in me being mega busy, mega stressed out and without the internet!
Soooo - the fluid in my tummy.....it never got any better but it never got any worse. I emailed the guy in the UK to ask for help and he never got back to me so I went to A&E on the off chance they would drain it for me. If not I would have booked a flight and gone back to Adam.
A&E sent me to Plastics who drained 150mls of fluid from my tummy. In the process, the doc was pushing my tummy from one side and the nurse from the other to get all the fluid to one spot. It was a seroma as I had first thought.
In the process of draining the nurse pushing on my left managed top open my incision where the drain was placed after my op. I didn't realise this had happened until I got out of the shower later that evening. It didn't hurt but didn't look too pleasant.
I went back and apparently it opened so easily as there was a double knot in the stitching which was poking out and preventing the skin from bonding properly. This was removed, I was given a course of antibiotics and its now well on its way to healing although it is still open a tiny little bit.
The swelling definitely comes on an evening although its not really bad. I just tend to feel and look a little podgy compared to how i did when I first got up.
I'm still wearing my binder on a night but have it off during the day now.
I tend not to study my shape in the mirror too much on a daily basis but perhaps once a week I'll have a good look and I can definitely see my waist! Its getting more and more prominent.
Pain is generally nil although sometimes I do feel a little sore.
My scar is healing nicely (apart from the open bit) and I think I might start with the bio oil soon.
I will post some pics.....just need to find all the cables cos they're in a bag somewhere waiting to be unpacked :/

Teddy,- i posted some q's for you earlier but they seem to have got lost somewhere, sorry if you get 2 lots from me!... Did your friend stay with you at the clinic on surgery day? Did you take jim jams, overnight stuff and shower stuff with you or did you get a gown to wear and have to use their anti bacterial wash stuff? I can't find a bag to pack all this in and if I don't need to take it I won't bother! Thanks for the binder info, - I will have a look when I next go into town. And take it easy, you have had a big op and moving can be very stressful and hard work. You are defo a do'er, and thats probably why you have recovered well. I am a little alarmed that you didn't get support regarding your seroma, sounds dreadful! I think I will be asking for Adams personal number!! xx
Hi red, I am soooo sorry - only just seen this and you're on the flat side now :))
Do get another binder while you're there. They're pretty expensive over here and 6 weeks on I still wear mine on a night (and its knackered now!)
Taking it easy is easier said than done for me. I'm deffo a do'er....cant sit still for long. Thats prob the reason I developed a seroma!! You will be given Adams number. I went to A&E on the off chance they would drain it for me. If they hadn't I would have got a flight out to Adam for him to do it for me. Hope you're doing well, and take it easy :) x

Hello! I am flying out to Dr Adam on the 12th September, so glad to read this page!
Hello everyone I am scheduled for a TT on the 11th of Dec ..absolutely crapping it ! Read all of the stories and still feel scared ..wimp lol I understand that Dr Adam does not supply you with any pain pump into your muscles that have been pulled back together again all of the other surgery sites I have visited have at least for 4 days been given some sort of pain relief re the muscles ..so I am really worked about that to be honest I have had breast cancer and had a bi lateral mastectomy and i came through that thank God with lots and lots of painkillers ..so worried about this TT I know that lots of people will say why on earth would you put yourself through major surgery and stress but I want it so badly as I could not have reconstruction on my breasts .so now I am just the weirdest shape no boobs and a huge wobbly tummy ..mmm I don't look so attractive ...so I am on mission mode any advice would be fantastic ..thanks so much .....x
(((((HUGS))))) I think I may have spoken to you before, but there are a few other girls here if you go onto my tummy tuck update who had their surgeries at the same time as I did... Try messaging them, I'm sure they'd be happy to talk too! Chrissie2012 was one of them and Delightful Double Dee was another...
hi just readyour add, waswondering if you went ahead with the surgery? im booked in with him for 24th june, so excited but really nervous
Hi, i'm looking into having a tummy tuck for january, but just getting as much info as possible. I've heard that the drains are needed to be left in for up to two weeks depending on the person. If dr adam takes it out on day 5, then fluid will build up. I'm just wondering if you are able to fly home with the drains still in (if needed).

Day 21 Post Op
Well, three weeks ago I was just coming round from my op. Cant believe how quickly time is going.
The swelling is still there but I think its beginning to go down a little bit. The fluid is still there though and that doesn't seem to be going away. I think I'll see how I go over the weekend then maybe contact David again and see if he can arrange for it to be drained.
I'm not sure if the swelling is better today because I've done absolutely nothing at all today! I've only been out of bed to get something to eat and drinks. I just felt like having a bed day and I didn't think it would do me any harm.
Got a busy weekend ahead though so no doubt the swelling will return!
Oh, and I've sneezed today......4 times!! Hurts a little bit but not very much. Not had a sneeze in 3 weeks lol!

Hi Teddy, thanks for the acrylic nails info, - how's your swelling now? Is it still in one area? I'm also having a think about payment, you said you paid with your debit card, did that cost you? I'm not keen on taking an envelope full of cash with me & putting it through on the debit card would be so much easier but not if it's going to cost to to it! Have you noticed any ridiculous bank charges on your statement?!! Xx
Hi red
No worries - any other info you need just ask :)
The swelling appears to be going down now, although the bloomin fluid is still there and doesn't seem to want to go. Its not getting any worse, but I do think it need draining. I'm going to call on Monday and see if something can be arranged to get it done.
I have noticed a proper waist this morning which was nice!! The swelling there has definitely reduced so fingers crossed I'm over the worst.
I did pay with my debit card. It cost me 2% so it was about an extra £50 or so. I've not noticed any other charges on my acct. I'm at my sisters at the moment and dont have my little pinsentry for my banking, but when I go back home either Mon or Tues I'll log on, have a look and tell you the exact amount debited from my acct.
Not long for you now eh....2 weeks today you'll be there! :)) Giddy giddy xx

Yes Red! 2 weeks!! So exciting!
Giddy giddy indeed!! I am beside myself now, seriously can't wait. I have just started a blog on here so watch this space. Thanks for the info Teddy, I think I will just take the cash with me, every penny counts & I prefer not to give the bank anymore of my dosh! xx
Red you can also transfer the cash directly into Adam's UK bank account. Most banks can transfer cash to another on the same day.

Day 19 Post Op
The swelling is still here. Its not really getting any better but its not getting any worse either. Tends to be not to bad on a morning but it gets gradually worse throughout the day into the evening.
I can still feel the fluid swishing about in my tummy which is so odd! Its especially noticeable when I go over a speed bump in the car.
Pain is not really an issue now. I'm sometimes a little bit sore but nothing major and I've not taken any painkillers for days now.
My scar is healing nicely and the scabs are coming away a bit at a time. The infection in my tummy button seems to have near on cleared up now. There is still a tiny bit of discharge when I clean it and there is only a faint smell now so fingers crossed it will have gone in the next couple of days. Just wish the swelling would do one too!
I've uploaded some pics from right after my surgery. I need to add some more to show the swelling now and I'll try to get them done over the weekend.

Wow!! The pics have been worth the wait, your tummy looks amazing! I hope I get a similar result. Heres a daft question for you,- do you have acrylic nails and if so were you asked to remove them before the op?
Looking forward to more of your updates,.. xx

Thank you. It has definitely been worth it. I just want the swelling to do one now!!
I do have acrylics. They asked me to remove my nail polish and when I told them I'd need pure acetone to soak 1 or 2 of my nails off they said it was fine and to just leave them on.

Your tum looks great. You must be very pleased. Your tum now matches the rest of your great body.
I guess even with swelling your tum can't be as big as it was before right?
Well tomorrow my boss is back so I'm going to chat with him first thing. Wish me luck.

Hi Dee, Hope all goes well with your boss tomorrow. I am planning for the future and hope to book a tummy tuck in May next year. As I work in a very small office, I am not sure if I will be allowed more than two weeks off in a row for holidays. I do have a sympathetic boss who lives just around the corner from my home and tends to drop in when I am not well! Mmmm, I am not sure if I would like that when recovering from something so major. I am so unsure whether to go abroad or have it done here in Glasgow. I know it is so much cheaper in Poland but what if something goes wrong, it is so far to go back to get it fixed. I can only afford this tummy tuck as we have received an inheritance and it is now or never. I will also need to lose weight. Struggling really hard to get the last stone off. Helen, you really are an inspiration and I have been following your progress with great interest. Take care everyone. [RS bleep]
Thanks Dee :) I am very pleased and its nowhere near as big as it was before so I suppose I should my happy and quit moaning about the swelling.
Good luck with tomorrow. I do think after 16 days you will be fine back at work x

Good news! My leave has been ok'ed! Phew.... I can sleep again! x

It's a bit off that the surgery didn't get back to you. Were you given Adam's mobile?
I know - its flown by! The stresses of moving, dealing with a horrible ex bf, and the whole 'fluid/open scar' issue has been really stressful and as a result my BP has been through the roof. At the highest t was 280/170! Need to calm it a bit....easier said than done.
I was really put out they never got back to me. Yes - I have a card with a mobile number on but Its packed somewhere. I've not heard a thing from them.
What do they say about aftercare once u leave Poland?
